Closing my account

I've sent an email to the admin but heard nothing back. How do I go about closing an account?

You don't close it, just leave.

I'm waiting for people to one day to realize that's it's completely unethical to hang on to somebody's information, posts, etc. if they ask to leave. At some point there will have to be a law passed I guess, because you can leave just about any organization you belong to and be stricken from the rolls, etc. should you request it. For some reason web forums and such want to keep your info because they are no doubt selling to somebody. There is no reason whatsoever for them to keep it. They seem to think that when you register, the info you give them including your IP address, email, etc. is their property. It shouldn't be. People have all kinds of reasons why they might want to remove an account, and they shouldn't have any trouble doing so nor should they have to explain it.

If you're not paying for a service, you're the product.

This includes Facebook, Youtube, free email accounts... and forums.

Mr Liquid's account is closed.

One picture of his with a serial number on it was also deleted at the time he asked for it.

No other personal information in any of his threads as far I can know.

Someone could type in "Mr Liquid, location Earth" and find him though I'd say that's a long shot.

We sell nuttin to nobidies. Get it ?

I can close your account too. Just say the word and I'll be so happy to oblige.

Done.....

All your posts however, will stay!!
If we were to remove everyone's input into the forum who has a brain fart meltdown, much like yourself for whatever reason it was, that would leave some haphazard threads with holes of information......

This forum will never "sell" or store personal info. Your presumptions and poor handling of the situation is completely on yourself!

What a crazy idea with no basis in fact, except, of course, you don't have to explain why you want to leave.

The fact is that many organizations are obligated by law to retain posts, e-mails, and information in case of future interest, research, probe, or litigation.

The Forum has the right to retain your voluntarily submitted on a public forum rant above too, in case you want to be reinstated at some future date and claim that you were wrongly banned.

(as noted, TRF doesn't sell or provide any member information to anybody and we urge members to not post their personal e-mail information)

Mods - if you want to sell any of the crappy attempts at high end watch photography that I made with my iPhone you have my permission. Hell, I would be flattered. Same goes for the witty banter found in many of my posts. I would love to know what the market value of those are.

Otherwise... I have no idea what in any of my posts over the last bunch of years could be possibly worth selling. WTH??

TRF ROCKS

I have seen this over and over again on different forums through the years. If you don't want to participate anymore, just leave. It's that simple. I suspect that people who want their accounts to be closed also want all of their posts to be removed, but that is not practical.
