DSSD or Pam 233

Ok, I know this is a Panerai discussion forum, but we are on a Rolex Forum. Have a 233, and keep lusting after a DSSD. Funds only allow for one. Love the 233, but something keeps eating at me that Panerai's ship might have sailed. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Well, the Panerai shipped has sailed. Then again, perhaps so has the DSSD ship too... :-)

Seriously, if I could only pick one and keep, it would be the DSSD, even with all its flaws.

The bracelet on the DSSD is a mismatch to the watch.

233 is money.

Sounds to me like your ship has sailed in the sense that the 233 no longer really does it for you and perhaps no other PAM will do it either...*
Having tried one on I think the DSSD rocks - as a matter of fact, it will be my first Rolex when the time comes Having said that, I won't part with my 233 for any other watch (well, maybe a 203... ), so the DSSD will have to wait 'till funds allow.

In any event, I wish you luck; may the better watch (in your current* pov) win

*For now anyway, as WISes & watches enjoy a back & forth love affair

Mik, I have to disagree with you here ... the bracelet on the DSSD is perfection! Especially considering the old school tapered lugs. Just my opinion of course.

233 is money indeed!

Interesting, I never thought of these pieces as either/or as they are so different. It would be really tough for me to pick one ... hard pressed I might go with the 233 by a hair ... but ask me again tomorrow.

Well, hmmmmm. I live in the Deep South and I had a Panerai 243. No one knew what the darn thing was. Might has well have been wearing some cheap junk from Wal-Mart.

Rolex DeepSea now. Instantly recognizable. Everybody seems to want to see it. It is just more fun to have on.

Different strokes. I prefer that people don't know what the heck I'm wearing.

I bought the DSSD and the 233 a couple of months ago as I just could not decide between the 2!!

They are now my most worn 2 watches in my rotation, you cant go wrong with either and I would try and get both!

Sorry, I wasnt much help.

Regards.

I can wear my 233 24/7. I can't say the same about the chunky DSSD.

I had the DSSD, its a really handsome watch, pic wise and in the flesh, I could look at it all day. But imo the narrow clasp and bracelet is uncomfortable for me and that chunk of steel is quite weighty on wrist. But if you like heavy watches, DSSD is it.

Been contemplating to buy DSSD again but the thoughts of the bracelet deters.

Have fun with either!
