Which Day Date?

If you had the choice, which DD would you have and why? The YG or WG? I've discounted the platinum as that is serious money!!

This is a diffucult one for me as the dials available in the WG are not as nice IMO as those for the YG.

But the WG is understated and only someone in the know would recognise it as a DD.

Having said that I do much prefer the dials on the YG, so it would have to be YG with a white dial with YG roman numerals with the Date Wheel with a gold background and the Date with a white background with of course a President bracelet.

And yes Rolex will "mix n match" the day and date wheels, I've already checked that out.

Well, to me, YG with champagne dial, THE day-date. Now, what I have is both a champagne dial (1803 on black leather strap) and a 118238 with white dial/bold gold romans.

Do they not make a rose gold version as well? I thought they did. If so, that would be my choice (after the platinum).

Yes they do Al, and it is stunning. I am with you, I'll take the PLT followed by the RG.

But asking which DD is like asking which $100 bill would you like.

I'm not a fan of all YG watches, either. But, if I were to get a DD it would have to be the YG. As Padi said, the WG looks to much like SS. The DD is a beautiful dress watch and I feel the YG is befitting for the style.

YG is the icon! To me, that is the ultimate Rolex.

Dawg, did you not know about the new posts button at the top? Makes it much easier to follow along.

Paul, no question, it's the YG with white dial and raised gold romans. Almost nothing is more quintessential Rolex than that.

As far as the DD is concerned, I prefer the platinum closely followed by the WG. If you go white gold or platinum, you HAVE to get the sky blue dial. That is one beautiful watch!

If neither of these, then I would take a RG over YG... I know I've said RG is 'girlie' but when you see YG watches, IMO they are over the top showy (or people assume it's yellow coloured metal). With RG, there's no question and it isn't as bling as the YG.

I think Al has influenced me here. LOL

I had a yellow gold Day-Date with silver dial for about seven years. I didn't wear it much. I just didn't like the way all that gold looked on me. It just didn't fit my lifestyle.

I'd consider getting another one, but I'd get white gold -- probably with some sort of interesting dial.

But we each have our own taste. For that kind of money, you should get exactly what you want.
