Found: Vintage Rolex 1550

Hey guys. I found this today at a store on my way home from work. I believe it's a 1550. I know it's from 1979. Was a service gift and has a name engraved on the back of the case. When opened the back has 12/16 written on the back and the previous owner said it was recently serviced (I'm assuming December 2016). Head only. Comes with box and original tags.

Included some quick pics I could snap. What would the experts (you guys) value this at.

Keep in mind that it is a gold shell watch and not solid gold

Right. I'm just reading more about it. Any guess at fair value for this?

I would suggest going onto eBay and looking at completed auctions for 1550s, to see what they actually sold for. It will give you the best real world value.

Not a terribly desirable model, in my opinion, but a good buy at that price.

As long as it is in running condition and keeping time, you cant argue with the price. A great bargain!
As said above, the gold cap isnt as desirable as solid gold or polished stainless.

As long as I can wear it for a bit and then sell and not lose my shirt in the deal.

Wont lose your shirt at that price. Just put a nice leather strap on it

That's a very good price as long as there is no chip in the gold cap.

I blame it on the autoconnect.
