I'm with lots of others, wear it everyday, wear it everywhere, wear it with pride, and when it stops, get it serviced and start all over again. Enjoy it!

If as I suspect, you are thinking that keeping it as a safe queen is a form of investment, then it is simply a gamble. You may win or you may loose, it's a risk and it's your choice. However you will almost certainly be better off in selling the watch and putting the money into equities. The problem with keeping a watch as an investment is that a lot of things affect the value, the size, shape and even the name Rolex could go out of fashion and then you could be in a loss situation. Stocks go up and down and up again and statistically are a better than a Rolex over the long term and they are certainly easier to sell. Regards Mick |

The answering is what will give you more pleasure?
Will saving this watch to preserve and increase its value to the point where you can sell it and upgrade your lifestyle by the fortune received? Probably not. Wear the watch. Sent from my BBB100-1 using Tapatalk |

I'd wait for it to arrive, put away and see you can resist wearing it. If you can't, you'll enjoy wearing a classic SD when you feel the itch. If you can, you'll have a classic SD as a commodity in a condition rarely found in the wild.

As long as Rolex keeps up its marketing, I reckon it will rise in value. By how much? I don't know. Should you take the gamble? Well, you're halfway there i.e. you already bought it. You don't have to strap it on the minute you get it. You could keep it in your safe while arriving at a solution.
If I were you... I would put it away upon receiving the watch and continue to ponder. If after a week/month/year I felt like wearing it, I would. If during that time the price increased by a margin I felt was worth realizing, I'd flip it. |

13 years sitting in a dark safe with only it's lume for company is a waste of precious time. Wear it with pride the minute it arrives.

I have a 16600 on my wrist right now. Amazing watch. Put it on and I challenge you to put it back in the safe.

Most everyone here will be of the opinion that you should go ahead and wear your 16600. I'm going to keep my own opinion off the record because you should do what YOU want to do. Basically you should ask yourself if you made the purchase primarily as an investment or as a gift to yourself for instant and long-lasting enjoyment/pleasure. There's nothing wrong with treating this purchase as an investment if that's your goal (depending on your purchase price the market value for an F series 16600 could be higher in the future; full disclosure I have an F SN too )...it would be similar in many ways to buying wine futures. At any rate, congrats on your purchase! ____________ Instagram: @onthedial |

My question is. If you hide it in the safe again, what Rolex will you wear daily? Its truly against the LAW to own (1) Rolex and never wear it. You must leave this forum immediately. LOL

It's not that life is not too short, it's just that you're dead too long. Wear it and enjoy it.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts! I am looking forward to wearing this watch, I will post some pictures tomorrow, just got it and sized it this evening, it really feels good on. I recently purchased my first Rolex a 114060 and this SD is very nice in comparison, slimmer, more proportional, I really like the look and feel of the 16600.

I can see the lure of it becoming more expensive. But that may or may not ever happen. 16600 Isn't one of those "must have" pieces. But who knows in the future.
