I like the white dial. I am looking for a white Exp II, but if I found a great deal on white Milgauss, I would probably pick it up.

The white dial is my favourite Milgauss , I've done close to buying it a few times but it's always seemed a bit big for my wrists

For white, I would rather go with the Polar. Different strokes I guess....

white milgauss is my fav Rolex, even more so than my beloved 14060M and polar exp II.
its just something that you don't see everyday. In fact, I have never seen another white milgauss out in the wild. I don't know how and don't know why, but the color combo just works. At first, it was like ... "what kind of orange markers are those?", and now its like "how did they come up with this to make it just right" :)

Like the look, not the fit though, so not for me. Also Milgauss sort of got one upped pretty bad by Omega regarding its party trick. Not sure it's as cool as it used to be in my eyes

White Milgauss
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I went to the AD today to see in person and saw the blue gv. O wow, Oboy now I'm confused just when I thought I could now validate a purchase. All I can say is the blue blue me away. I'm stuck for a minute right now but I know I want one or the other. I'll repost when I have a pic of one or the other. Again, thanks for any thoughts.

If I'm not mistaken, Omega produce a watch that offers more protection against magnetic fields than the Milgauss. Something like that anyway.

No expert here, but as Ruud has said, I understand every in-house Omega to have come out recently is more resistant to magnetism by a factor of probably double digits than a Milgauss, because they use some sort of secret sauce non-ferrous material in them. That makes the Milgauss a nice enough tribute piece to a historical watch (that looked nothing like a modern Milgauss though), but not the cool technological wonder one may be led to believe it is when looking through the Rolex catalog. Science has come a long way since the 1950ies, but one could argue that the Milgauss has not.

I thought of giving this thread a miss but since you specifically mentioned Omega, then I must remind you that the Milgauss direct and fiercest competitor is the latest incarnation of the Aqua Terra Seamaster Master Chronometer Cal 8900 or the older Cal 8508 with Anti Magnetic properties > 15000 Gauss. Here's a photo of the Silver Opaline dial to compare with the white MilgaussThe visible distinction between the older Cal 8508 and the newer Cal 8900 are the location of the date window at 6 and horizontal teak lines on the dial instead of vertical in the latter Perhaps some readers on the TRF are curious as to which Aqua Terra Anti Magnetic model is the "Darling" of the Omega Forum ( as in which Milgauss model is the crowd favourite on the TRF ) The answer is the prototype, the world's first completely anti magnetic watch able to resist magnetic field >15000 Gauss fitted inside the Aqua Terra Seamaster model Cal 8508 first announced back in Jan 2013 pre Baselworld. Sounds unfamiliar? Perhaps you would recognize the model if someOne tells you the watch is also fondly known by its nickname, " Bumble Bee "

Ask yourself this. Are you thinking of buying it because you really like the white dial or because it's so much cheaper due to little demand and interest for it. If it's the former go for it.
If it's the latter stay away from it, no point in settling , you'll regret it down the road, flip it, lose cash and spend more for the one you really like. |

I think it is a great 2nd or 3rd Rolex to own.
White is a lotta bang for the buck in the used market. |

There are only 3 white sport models. Milgauss, Daytona, Explorer 2. |

I would prefer the blue or green dial. It's your money, buy what you like.
