Buying a Tag Heuer Aquaracer brand new from an AD for 3k. It is a beautiful watch mind you but knowing what I know now, I'd have bought a Tudor for that money. It was my first expensive watch.

I am not really collecting, but man I should have bought a Rolex more early than 38 year old.

Wasting 4 weeks of my life wearing a Sub Date 16610 until I realised it was a just a "trend" watch and is SO dull.

P/ex'd it - phew!

Buying 2 Tag Heuer. 2000 and Link. But that's all I could afford at the time (1994 and 2000).

Try leaving it until retirement like I did! When I think of Rolex prices when I was 38, even accounting for inflation, it makes me sick. Also the years of enjoyment that I now realize I missed. Congratulations for getting one before 40!

I traded in a ss and white gold Datejust for an Omega Seamaster Mid, immediately regretted it and had to trade again to throw less money towards the 14060 Sub I really wanted... Felt like I simply traded down and threw money away.

Let's see...

Great example birthyear 16750 for $4K long gone,

Cherry blue 76100 bought for $1850 long gone,

SD4K sold about 4 months before they were discontinued.

Selling my Rose Gold Skydweller and then buying another one back within 1 month of selling it. That cost me a little bit of coin. LOL

Going large! I went thru a big watch phase and spent a lot of money only to see the error of my ways losing $s on the deal. Also Flipping a few SS sports in which to upgrade only to find the prices sky rocketed within 6 months

Having my 16750 polished back when I didn’t know any better.

Buying a Ball watch from a dealer and then selling it 3 months later for 1/2 what I paid. I should have never bought the watch.

Passing on a mint 16610LV flat 4 for $6k about 3 years ago.

Not buying a 16520 a few years back when I first started looking at the zenith versions.

It is good therapy reading some of the other stories. I am happy I know what I know about this hobby at just under 40 years of age. I am sure there will be some future regrets.

Joining the forum was proven to be very costly to my bank account. Before I acquired my very first Rolex, watches wasn’t anything important to me. I knew Rolex is very expensive and I must have 1 someday. Well, I’ve had more than a few since joining the forum. Same mistake I joined Rennlist forum.

Not buying the Hulk when offered at MRSP at my AD, not purchasing a PP 5712 for a major discount at my AD (new) and instead buying a 5146 at retail, pulling my deposit on my 5711 a few years ago when it was 24000 and was quoted a 6 month, passing on two 5711 blue at two AD’s, etc.

I could go on and on... such is life... feel like an idiot

1. Trading Kermit for GMT IIc (and I also handed over $500)

2. Buying IWC Big Pilot fit retail

3. Trading Hulk for IWC Big Pilot (straight up).

Yes, I’m stupid, but getting smarter. Getting SD43

In the 90’s i purchased my first APRO. I chose a quartz model over an automatic/mechanical. Both were in stock and worth the same money.

Too many examples for me:

- Selling a mint 16610LV F serie in 2006 for 5000 Euro.
- Selling a Sub 5508 in 2006 for 6000 Euro

- Selling a mint Daytona 116520 in 2006 for 7000 Euro
- Selling a mint Daytona 6263 in 2006 for 19000 Euro
- Selling a mint Daytona 6263 with box, papers in 2011 for 35000 USD.

Now I am looking to repurchase some of these watches, but seem almost impossible since their prices have gone to high.

1. selling my grandfather's rolex 18038 day-date that was passed down to me during difficult times
2. flipped my first rolex 116713ln that was gifted to me by my father to a Panerai PAM531......later on, flipped again that Panerai......losing tons of money in the process, could have bought another Rolex for the amount that was lost

Several for me:
1. Flipping my mint condition complete set Flat 4 Kermit early F ser. for $6.5K barely 4 yrs ago.
2. Passing an opportunity to purchase an A series 16520 mint complete set Daytona for $10.4k in 2015. Was offering $10k, we didn't agree on pricing.
3. Not buying a brand new PP5711 white offered by local AD at retail last year.
