Is this Deep Sea OK?

All I have so far are theese pictures. I think the box looks stange. Never seen one of those before but I haven't seen many deep sea's. The guy says it was bought in the US around two years ago. All help much appriciated.

If he has stated that the watch comes with the ORIGINAL box and paperwork then it would throw up red flags for me. That is the older style box for high grade Rolex watches and to the best of my knowledge the Deepsea was never delivered with that. Frankly, I don't even think that box-set has been in use for years.

Thank you. The box was the thing that made me wonder. If someone has seen this box for a Deep Sea, please let me know.
When was the Deep Sea first for sale?

have you read through the other thread, regarding the counterfit DSSDs? Very interesting and informative. From what I can tell, check out closely the crystal, the spacing of the lettering/relative to the markers, and most obvious to me is the lettering -- it looks bloated and not crisp on the fake, versus a more precision font on the authentic ones.

the thread is sticky'd at the top of the page for the "watchout" thread.

NOT an original box, can't tell from pics above. Who's the seller?

1000ft -- considering the counterfits described in the Beware thread, how can you tell this looks okay/good, just from these two pictures posted? Just trying to be a little hypervigilant and offer opinion on what I've read. Though I'm not nearly as versed as many other members here, so here: . <---- grain of salt.

THERE IS NOWHERE enough images to tell. Need - dial straight-on, close-up of 6 oclock, the clasP, the glidelock... as you yourself saw, these fakes are GOOD

I'd start to ask the seller why he states it's the original box , did he buy it new ? Does he have documents ? Ask him if it come from a local AD etc... with pictures it is always difficult .

He doesn't say it's the orginal box. I thought I should ask here before I started to complain about the box to him.
It comes with the certificate and papers. If the number on the certificate matches the inner ring, is the watch OK then or do they fake the certificate aswell nowdays?

The DeepSea SeaDweller was released and became available in the USA in July 2008. The box depicted, like others have noted, is not the box the DeepSea box.

Ooops , what I meant M ' august 2008 not 2007 of course . Thank you springer for putting that right ! I know of a person who got the 3rd SDDS delivered in Spain in august 2008 , it is quite possible that the US had some earlier .

I have now asked him and he told me that his father posted the add and he had used a Presidential box when he photoed th watch. The correct box comes with it. I will look at it today and bring my "Rolex Submariner Story" so I can compare closely.

Took a look at it today. The watch looked to be the deal at first but small details made me a little suspicious. Then he took out the box. Looked like hell. No Rolex feeling at all but the big joke was the certificate. HAHAHA! A paper one, (PAPER!!! for a SDDS, LOL) with printed numbers in the wrong places and the lettering looked aweful.
Thanx guys for your help.

At first glance, it looks fine. But I'd have to check the feedback and dig deeper if I was interested, etc.

Good you only considered the fake paperwork as "a small detail"

Hehe, I ment small details on the watch. Like the lume dot on the bezel were positioned a little to low. The ROLEX laserengraving on th inside on the clasp didn't look as "crisp" as the real deal.
