Whenever I want to make absolute certain no one knows the value on my wrist, I go with the Aquanaut. Its about as inconspicuous as it gets and most people just assume its a cheap quartz running watch. To be honest, I like the stealthy nature of this piece!

For Rolex, the Explorer does a good job of flying under the radar. Alternatively, get an old 5513 on a Nato and most people won't notice, despite it being pretty expensive.

When I'm flying under the radar (which I'm having to do today), the JLC, Daytona, and Dweller stay locked up at home, and the Speedy justifies it's role in the collection.

as long it is not " gold" no one will take a second look at your watch. Since 2001 maybe five people actually noticed I had one. One wore a gold DJ, one wore a moonwatch, one asked me what make (1655) it was because he liked it and wanted to buy one - when he read the name he asked me if it was real. The fourth was a guy at the resort where we honeymooned, he started to sell me Submariner but stopped when he looked at my wrist. I have never figured out why he stopped and said it was not the quality of a real Rolex / EXP II.

And the last was a really nice lady who gave a refresher course on something and when she stood next to me asked me loud enough so that 15 people could hear if it was a real Rolex.

We think we are normal, but people will drop 5000E a year on a new car and buy a new watch because the batteries are dead.

You mentioned a Speedmaster so I'll assume you're not just referring to Rolex only.

I'll toss another vote for a PP 5167/64 Aquanaut followed by an Omega original DSOTM Speedy. Not many people will know you're wearing a (MSRP) five figure watch with either of those if that's what you mean by "under the radar".

What is it in your opinion guys, I think the Tudor BB fulfils the job perfectly. Other than that, the omega speed master moon watch.

Explorer 1 is definitely understated and under the radar.

Chaps

Any Rolex with a cyclops is hardly under the radar. A Cyclops is an eye magnet.

Any Rolex with a coloured dial is likewise not under the radar because it draws the eye.

A 36mm Explorer is under the radar because it is so low key. Even my 39mm Explorer is a bit to blingy with the WG numerals to be totally under the radar.

Regards

Mick

Explorer 1 or Milguass IMO.

Tudor Pelagos good option too. Somehow I quite like this watch and seriously considering buying either it or 116600.

Best under the radar watch?

The Tudor black bays or higher up in price the explorer models for the bill.

Even higher, my 15400 AP was as UTR as anything else.

Most thieves notice the Rolex bracelet and design of a sub. That's the giveaway.

Rolex is one of the most known brands across the globe, hence it will never fly under the radar. In my opinion neither will a Speedmaster for the most part. Tudor is a brand that flies under the radar, but it may not stay that way forever. They are moving up in the world, and are no longer standing" in Rolex Shadow" as it once was. I know serious collectors that have been collecting Rolex for decades, who now say that if they could do it all over again, they'd start collecting Tudor instead...

Have you seen all the other watches out there? There is some serious eye blinding bling going on, quite often paired with large diameter cases. An Explorer will not stand out, white gold numerals or not.

No one notices an Explorer. And if for some reason someone does notice the Explorer they will not think 'Rolex' or even 'expensive', for at a glance it looks the same as any $200 time piece.

Even when it is pointed out to people that I wear a Rolex (never by myself!), you can see the confusion in their eyes.

Only those who know Rolex watches will notice the bracelet. The cyclops is another matter.

How do you mean 'the whole case is polished'. The bezel and the sides are polished, just like the 36mm.. Not the whole case.
