Most people have never seen a Rolex / Tudor in the wild. They see and buy fakes in Turkey or Asia, buy Invictas and MK homage watches. They "know" what a submariner looks like or a Jubilee bracelet. But they still don't see what we as WIS wear. Only a WIS will notice because he is interested. A colleague of mine explained to me last week what choice of engine you have when buying a new Mercedes and how that affected the standard equipment like tinted windows and rims. A dealer once told me when he delivered a new company car that the combination of rims and exhaust showed which trim level I had chosen.... We all have our little pet hobbies. We are interested in watches - I always look to see what someone is wearing, but gave up long ago having an opinion;) |

Patek Philippe 5227. Only a watch aficionado will notice it.

You guys are right about the Explorer, but for the wrong reason. The watch isn't plain; it's the wearers that are so damned interesting and distracting.

I own an explorer I and its the most under the radar rolex, I believe. I don't hang around many WIS so they are pretty much clueless that I own a rolex unless I tell them that I do and show them my watch.

My BLNR in public never gets any looks/comments. There are only two people that know I have a Rolex at work, and they never really look at it or talk about it. I think, unless you go out of your way to show people, any watch that isn't gold should be under the radar. People on here like to think that "Oh, people do glance at our watches, you just don't notice it.", but as I'm wearing mine daily for the past few months, I'm just not convinced. Additionally, just wear what you like and ignore what others think.

I'm new here and just picked up my first Rolex (a beautiful Explorer 214270-003) about a month ago. I've had it on pretty much every minute of every day since and only one person has ever pointed out that "that looks like a nice watch", let alone known what it was. I'd say this flies under the radar like no other.

As others have noted, no Rolex with a date cyclops is under even the weakest radar. The Explorer I in whichever size suits your wrist is a good choice. A non-GV Milgauss is an interesting watch that isn't exactly low key but is not recognized as a Rolex by most if that is the real concern. BLRO?...no, not in my book...Hulk?...seriously?, its bright green.
I guess we really need to know...are you looking for a watch that doesn't scream money or one that doesn't scream Rolex? For me, my white dial High Beat Grand Seiko is the ultimate "only a WIS knows who makes it and that it costs more than $500" watch. |

Maybe give Tudor a look . Its got the Rolex connection & no cyclops, and is that under the Radar even most WIS wouldn't give it a second glance .

In comparison to my other watches I find the smooth bezel oyster bracelet DJ41 is under the radar yet still give me lots of pleasure to look at while I'm at work
