So blown away by it that I may put the BLNR on the block and use the Seiko as my sports-knockaround-travel-weekend watch. So comfortable and the build quality and design is amazing. Given the fact that I wear my Patek 80 percent of the time do I need all that $$$ tied up in a sports watch when this particular Seiko does everything I need and looks as good, almost better, for nearly 1/3 the price....? I know. I may have just committed heresy..... |

The rubber strap is one of the best I've had...but think I'll try a few other options as well. On Eulit perlon today...

I know I wear my SLA more than my 16710 pepsi...which was my previous "daily" watch.

Reviving this thread to share on my Uncle Seiko waffle strap. A bit stiff for now but the shorter length fits better on my wrist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have you guys ever seen the special SLA 017 package for the German market? The watch comes in a large beautiful Peli case with a USB pendrive containing info on the history of the Seiko Diver watches, a submarine model kit in a transparent display case box and a burgeon tool for strap changing

But may I ask how you know that this is German-market specific please? I got mine in Austria and more often than not the Austrian Distributor is the same as the German market...

I downloaded the photos from FB. I"m not sure but I think it"s only exclusive to the Seiko boutique in Frankfurt am Main ( unverified ) presented to one or two lucky customers .I remembered the Seiko boutique in Bangkok had offered similar gift package with the release of the LE Silver Seiko Sumo. The watch came with latex eyewearWell,Sir if you want to make the fine SLA 017 watch even more exclusive replace the original buckle with a genuine 16 mm Grand Seiko buckle.Somebody actually did that

I love that German market (or whatever) box set! However, I'm glad it wasn't available to me, as the last thing I need is more, larger, watch boxes in my closet.
New SLA017 images from the weekend, just because #chuffed. |

Glad to see people still really enjoying the SLA017.
Great watch, and appears to very hard to find (absent a strong premium) based on a search of C24.

I would put that kind of money in an original one, but not a reproduction

Happy Sunday Jim ! Ah, I've finally met my swaggering swash-buckling hero but the facts on the ground suggest its easier said than done JimSnyder. Are you willing to spend time, money and effort hunting down a rare vintage original mint specimen in the wild ? Perhaps Khrysos is smiling upon you and you're lucky enough to find one but what are the odds of striking gold minus the chronic physical abuse heaped upon them ? Then what do you do? You start your own faithful JimSnyder restoration project on an original but every single SLA 017 component won't be served to you on a Silver platter and trust me , it's a bloody headache most watch collectors cannot stomach. I beg your pardon ? Oh you said you found a reasonably priced example ? Well ! Good Form ! Good on You Jim but.... I dare say that 99% of the time it's a Frankenstein model ! For your sake Jim, I pray with all my heart to Khronos-Aeon, you're the chosen 0ne....
