Antiquorum Valuation Visit
I was in Milan yesterday and had a nice visit to the Antiquorum office for their valuation service. It was quite a nice experience and I'd recommend it for insight not only to your timepiece, but the collectors market in general. Some takeaways from my visit I thought might be nice to share:
1) The staff was super friendly and accommodating to all my questions. I believe they are motivated by suggesting visitors submit watches for auction, however there was zero "pushiness" to enter my watch. 2) The watch collectors market is healthy. Rolex models in particular continue to be strong components. This is evidenced by each auction setting successive sales records. 3) Obvious, but any Paul Newman will bring top appreciation, even short-term. 10-20% increases are not uncommon with pieces purchased within the same year. No end in site as inventory is sparse. 4) Other Rolex vintage models continue to appreciate, though more in the 5% range per year. 5) The Geneva auction is the preferred location for a top price, however the other auction cities are doing very well. I can recommend a valuation visit. It was a nice experience. If you visit Milan, the offices are adjacent to the Duomo so it was nice to visit the cathedral afterwards. |
