20% discount and no tax considered good?
New to Panerai and will have a chance soon from an AD with what my title states. I know getting 20% off on a new Breitling isn't good enough (for me), but what about a new Panerai? Thanks in advance.

20% less from the recommended retail price is extremely good. However, the final price is based on what is the price decucted from? Because, the list price differ from country to country.

If it's from an AD, it's a good deal. You can usually get a another 2-5% more from a TS depending on the model.

Why is there no tax? Somebody has to pay it.

Any model for the 20% and the no tax would be if the purchaser has it shipped out of state per the salesperson

Doesn't it seem as though some don't read or look at the updated posts? All/any models are in play for the discount. Also, please refrain from giving me lessons on taxes. I have a GED you know!

20% off anything is generally good (except Omega because I'd want more than that).
Personally, I would be amazed if you can get 20% off any Panerai reference. On some pieces that are not the hottest sellers, or a NOS on something like an N serial, maybe. Otherwise, if they're telling you 20% off ANY Panerai reference well, with respect, I call BS. Even with my relationships with OP Singapore and my Rolex AD, who can source me a PAM from one of his other boutiques, the best I can achieve is 12%. But 20%? No. Just, no.

I'm not making it up! Now, we shall see once the time comes to purchase if they pull the old flim-flam. I wouldn't be surprised either way. If I get it, I'll be sure to post the receipt as evidence. I was surprised bc I thought it sounded high as well for Panerai, but again, I'm not spun up on the brand like many here. Time will tell... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

However, what I will say is this: if the AD has told you this, then I'd suggest calling them out and asking for that sort of discount on a particularly desirable piece. Whilst I'm a Panerai fan, I am by no means an expert; I'm sure others can chime in with which references to ask for but if you had 20% off something like a 233, 533, 372, 684 or 692 I would be amazed. If they give you anywhere near 20% off one of those then I'll eat my own Alan's. Good luck.

I purchased a new pam for...
25% off, but it may not be a hot model and it wasnt from an ad but one of the internet sites. 20% from an ad is great, from the boutique even better.

I think 20% off is a fair amount but as earlier pointed out the model does matter. I would also have to do some research and determine which models the TS are good with taking and the amount on a trade or a sell. Good luck with the purchase.

I went to Panerai boutique in Toronto yesterday and they were kind enough to offer up a measly 4%, and that was supposedly offering me an unbelievable discount, and that was after talking to the store manager. I went across the Rolex boutique and picked up a nice DJ41. I would not recommend that place unless you want to take a bath. Jomashop has Panerai models on sale at substantial discounts. If I lived in the US I would definitely consider buying from them. I will just wait for a nice pre-owned model to come up locally.

My local AD wouldn't offer any discount so if say 20% is pretty good.

Quote:
20% really do exist. Just that you have not realized it. July 30, 2017. Recent enough? I bought a 422 from an AD in HKG. The recommended retail price at the moment for 422 in Hong Kong is HKD69,600.00 and I bought it at less 20%. I paid HKD55,680.00 convert to SGD, that would be around $9,650.00 A 372 is also 20% off the RCP. I just placed an order for a 673 and it will be less 20% too from HKD73,900.00. SGD100.00 = HKD573.00 You do the maths. In Singapore, the best I got from an AD (THG) is less 16% and the RCP is about 5-10% higher than compared to HKG. A 424 sold in an HKG AD is only about SGD7,600.00 with the full 2 years warranty. I will be looking to collecting my 673 on October 3, 2017 if there are no change in plans. I did not say 20% off a Panerai does not exist. I questioned 20% off ANY reference. Clear enough?

Yep, me Alan Whicker's (knickers)
So you're telling me you'd get 20% off any PAM of your choice from an AD? I'm not talking lightly used or from a grey. I'm referring specifically to the OP who said 20% off ANY PAM from an AD.

Totally agree with Ruud. There's no such things as 20% off ANY pam reference.
