The bezel is one of the things that made me hesitate getting it actually. I would much prefer it if it was ceramic... Not that this doesn't look good, just from an aesthetics standpoint. But the reality is a ceramic bezel will change the look substantially.

Agreed on the ceramic. I just hope they don't plop a black bezel but instead find a way to keep the SS look. Lighter bezel with darker markings? Too much to hope for?

Congrats!!! I love that watch. If they made it in 40mm with those hands, I'd go buy one right now.

It is one of the best modern Rolex IMHO.. (Hulk is no.1)
I remember you got the SD43. I am now struggling to justify having an Explorer and an SD43. In some ways they are redundant to me in their general everyday purpose (I don't dive and I think the explorer can handle all of my "water" needs).

What else did you get?

Good to know. From pictures and from just looking at it in a store, especially next to ceramic bezel stuff, it looked waaaaaay too casual. But when I put it on with a shirt on, I was like, wait, I think this works.

I don't mind white dials but am with you, generally prefer the darker dials. The reason I HAD to go with white on this one is the contrast. This may be the only Rolex that has the black marker surrounds. This along with the maxi black surround hands make for an amazing contrast in real life... It's a different look and experience from the black dial one.

It wears smaller than you think. I would give it a shot if I were you. At least leave it on your hand for a few minutes at a dealer. You may be surprised.

Congrats!

I too was not a fan of Explorer 2 until I saw a 5 digit black dial on a friend. It is a handsome watch.

Almost all sport models.. Sub,ex2, gmt, daytona, SD....
But I prefer EX2 WD and Hulk .. they are both perfect to me.. and I often wear them on RubberB straps...

But I love ISOfrane straps too..
They are prefect for my underwater activity ...

I too am finding that I am wearing the EX 2 more than any of my others. I think it's because it's a no nonsense watch which is so comfortable on the wrist. No PCL to baby. Or maybe it's just looks so cool.

I too never liked the exp2 but wear it so much more than my other "more popular" Rolex. So legible, under the radar, great quality.

But does need the submariner glide lock or the DSSD clasp. And triple lock crown.

I love the big hands. I love the size of the dial. I was also pleasantly surprised that it actually (in my opinion) works well with a dress shirt. The only improvement I would make is to have the better submariner/sea-dweller style clasp. Other than that I think this watch is amazing.
Fantastic. For my wrists, if the whole thing was 2mm smaller it might be the only watch I'd wear...

congrats - and gorgeous watch... this one is on my radar - and it's very good to hear your opinion (and pics) that it works well for dress clothes (I am usually in a tie/jacket for work)...

I believe the older model with red gmt hand is 40mm, isn't it?

Looks great, enjoy it! The flatness does keep it under a dress shirt. Might be my favorite Rolex that I own. It has a happy face!
