New policy to remove the films by Rolex AD

Since July first this year, when you purchase a new Rolex from ADs in Japan, along with the nice green box, green tag and manual you will also receive this message from Rolex Japan telling that if Rolex finds out you are a flipper or "tenbai" in Japanese term, your name will be blacklisted and Rolex Japan will not sell watches to that individual.

Is this happening in other countries as well? The ADs also size your new Rolex as they take off the protection films to avoid being sold to grey dealers.

If you buy a watch legit from an AD, then later decide to get something different and sell it or whatever why would they care? You bought it why cant you do what ya want with it?

Mine still let me take the plastic off if and when I want?

They mean if you keep all the original packaging and plastic and try to sell it as new. I'm guessing. Like to watch brokers and stuff.

But if you bought it at an AD it is your watch to do want you wish? You paid retail do they think you will flip it and make money on it?
Maybe like mark up a new Daytona and sell on eBay?

Interesting, and it is quite a radical measure and I suspect currency exchange rates has a part to play much like the global price adjustments by Patek in the first half of the year.

If that's true let's all pledge our undying loyalty to another brand.

Purchased a sub about 4/6 weeks ago
Nothing like that in the UK
Seems silly and not true imo

In the UK you get a 7/14 day change your mind policy with anything so it would be against the interest of the AD to remove stickers as if you change your mind and return it then they have a watch with no protective stickers on it

Hermes has the same policy. Although, if you walk into an Hermes store they still have to sell to you.

I agree though, I pay the money, I can flip to whomever I want

New policy to remove the films by Rolex AD

Translation on the reseller part (the top part is about privacy issue on personal info on international warranty card):

"If Rolex Japan find that the purpose of the sale is to resell (or any suspicious activity related to reselling), then Rolex Japan may share (and/or use) your personal information among its authorized dealers nationwide to possibly refuse future sales of its products to the said customer.

Japan Rolex Corporation"

In a nutshell, you'll be blacklisted by Rolex Japan. It's clearly stated "Rolex Japan". I haven't seen these wording in US yet.

If I was paying full retail in an AD I would feel quite insulted to receive a note like that with my watch. I guess this is something to do with the weak yen.

I'm not sure that sort of practice is even legal on the US. I'm sure the attorneys will weigh in.

The TrF sales section is the place for me. Is it worth the AD "experience" to be treated like a possible criminal or at the very least some rule violator?

Don't have time for that hassle

Bought new in Zurich couple weeks ago, and after resize, I noticed all the film was removed. Which for me personally is no big deal as I intended to wear it anyway.

Tom,

You can easily sell SS Daytonas, GMT BLNR, Submariner LV with a bit of premium to grey dealers or porn shops in Japan and I was told by my AD there are group of people (not sure if they are local) doing this for business and this is the reason behind.

I always buy Rolex from my AD so would like to know if people here have similar experience in other countries too.

my wife works at full price coach store and they have something similar nothing written with the sale of a purse but if you come in and buy during discount programs multiple products they will track you (at the local store level) and if you keep doing this they will mark you as reseller and refuse to sell to you.

This was strictly enforced for a while but they have been lax on it lately (business not doing so well so I think they want resellers now) lol
