Dial replacement >
OK, I am new to the forum just trying to understand the Rolex terms. When asking about replacing an existing dial on a Daytona with another color Rolex dial, the AD I spoke to says that Rolex would then consider that a counterfeit item and would not service it. What is the reasoning for this from Rolex if the watch is genuine? I am not wanting this done, only trying to understand the issues.

That is not true from what I have done myself. As long as you're going through a Rolex service place it's all good. With my datejust I did it and it's fine.

If you want to replace the dial on your Daytona, obviously cost is not a consideration. Let Rolex do it. Swap out the existing dial and have them put in the dial of your choice. In swapping Rolex will credit you for the old. I had to swap a water damaged dial for a new one. I was credited but understand they will keep the old dial. If Rolex installs a new dial it is not considered counterfeit. A third party dial would be and Rolex would deny any service. Something to consider.

Curious what the cost of a dial change was on your DJ2? Which dial did you have and what did you switch to? I’m very interested in doing this with a DJ2.

For example, if you want a meteorite dial, or something else not offered, in a SS model you would have to source one and install it yourself. As long as it is an authentic dial they will still service your watch although they may comment about it. Take anything that an AD says with a grain of salt, they don't work for Rolex, they just sell them.
