Advice: 16610LV

I am getting ready to pull the trigger and acquire the 16610LV, most likely from Tony at SD. There are a handful to choose from, however all of them are basically mint & full set(s). It boils down to a handful of serials that don't seem to matter for collecting purposes (M, Z, L I think), engraved vs. non-engraved rehaut, and $200-$800 difference for condition (LN to new without stickers). I also notice a few color variations to the bezel.

If you were in my position, what would you be considering? Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.

Morning Sir! The most collectible series would definitely be the flat 4 F series where everyone is going gah gah about it. In your case I would definitely consider the condition first. If all are at the same level of playing field I would get the last in the series as anything in the first and last of a series is always memorable and collectible :) the last series should be M.

The most collectible and valuable are the Y serials and early F serials that came with Mk 1 dial and Flat 4. Later F serials did not have the Flat 4 but F is still a good serial number to have for the 16610LV.

If they are all full sets and you are going to wear the watch then serial number should not matter. I’d go with the cheapest.

I love having the engraving in the rehaut in my 2008 Kermit. Apart from the maxi dial, it is one of those little modern details that connects the classic Sub to the new one.

Agreed. I have trouble spending $15k plus on an LV to wear it and turn it into a $7K to $8k LV

Some good advice here. Personally, I would definitely buy the nicest one in the lot.

+1. Heck, while we're at it, I wouldn't spend more on a green watch than a black one, so I'd just get a regular 16610.

Unless you're going to tuck away a full set y or f serial flat 4 then choose the best piece. Compare lugs, guards, bezel condition and bracelet. Wear and enjoy. They will always hold value. In rarity terms the final batch with random serial numbers may hold a slightly higher value. Don't be swayed by 'full sets'. If they all have papers and tags, you can buy the remaining bits.

I sold my flat 4 F2 series as it became too stressful to wear it. It's resale value dives if there's a scratch on the bezel.

Thanks for for the info everybody. Since I plan on wearing it and not making it a safe queen I'm probably not going to go the flat four route. Any thoughts on buying now or waiting 3-6 months to see if prices come down a little?

Tbh , I don’t think prices will ever go down , the sooner you buy , the better you’ll save in the long run ( I’d say personally)

Good not to get spendy on a "collectible" watch that you will wear.

Bad idea to wait as these are going up up and away in price.

The only thing to stop that upward trend would be a substantial economic recession.

for collect, 2003 4 flat. If you are budget concern and collectible is not your matter of concern then any none 4 flat will work. 4 flat is extremely hard to find today.
