U.S. Customs\Tax for Guam purchase?
Hello all,
Making a deal with a private party on a JLC Reverso. Seller will be shipping form Guam to California. Does anyone know the Customs\Tax implications of this transaction. Watch will be shipped FedEx. I am a U.S. Citizen. Thank you |

Can’t imagine any duty.
It’s a US territory, whose citizens are Us citizens I would think no different than from Puerto Rico or St. Thomas, where there is no duty when shipped to mainland.

Thanks. I was surprised as well, but the seller stated that there might be a tax\duty. Caught me by surprise.

Legally there should be sales tax collected by the seller, but generally that never happens with a private transaction, unless there is a paper trail.

Thanks guys. Just trying to make sure I don't end up with a surprise from FedEx upon delivery.

So, if a watch is being mailed\delivered to me from Guam - I'd owe duty on anything over $1,600? The watch I'm buying is $5,700. Also, can it be mailed right to my address or do I have to pick it up at some customs office? Hmmm....starting to reconsider this purchase. Thanks for the info

Both delivered, both contacted me when the watches hit customs and both sent me the forms (email). No need to go to customs. Both situations were done in a day or two. Hope this helps. |
