Trying to understand my GMT 1675 PCG

Hello all,

I'm new here, looking for input on my GMT 1675 with pointed crown guards.

-The serial number that I can see is 695,XXX. Surely there must also be (or have been) a "1" before the 6, dating it to 1963?
-Based on my amateur on-line research, the dial seems to be the Mark I "long E" dial. Can that be correct for this watch?

I'd appreciate any input you can provide. (Sorry the picture is not great.)

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Indeed very tough to figure out with that picture. Ill take your word that it is a PCG.

Going on the assumption that it is a serial 695,XXX, the watch would be dated around 1960-61. Obviously all the parts have been replaced along the way, dial, hands, insert..

By the way, if it was a 1.6mil serial, it would date it to 1967.

I would recommend you remove the caseback and see what year date stamp is inscribed.

Looks like a Long E with newer hands and newer insert... also looks like someone turn normal crown guards into PCG with a Dremel

Under magnification, the hands, dial and insert all appear to be later Rolex replacements. The dial does appear to be a white-lettered Mark I dial.

As far as the case goes, I can't tell for sure what is going on with the case.

Thats what I was looking at. Its a little too fat and the guards too small...

now I'm concerned...

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Now I am getting worried, based on what I have read from you folks. I'm thinking I should have it looked at by someone with more knowledge than I have.

Any suggestions for an expert in London who would be best to evaluate this one?

Again, Thank you.

There is a reference section for those in London but I will tell you that case has either been polished and re-shaped or is an impostor, it gives new meaning to PCGs!
