5208p incoming...(early)

In anticipation of a life milestone and consolidating significantly my "collection" I ordered what I estimate is the highest quality and most complicated watch I could possibly wear. And because my Patek AD simply amazing I am able to share this truly phenomenal work of craftmanship early. I love the watch, my AD and my Patek experience so I will attempt to temper the gushing with my observations.

General:
Wearing it it feels very diffrent from other Patek watches as it is wide, tall and the platinum makes it heavy but also rather familiar as the design of the case and dial are much like other current offerings. It almost feels like a sports watch from my youth, you know your wearing a watch.

Dial:
The dial is a softer sunburst grey dial than 5396G that I held awhile back. It seems like a matte grey with a shimmer - that's the best I can describe it. I like that the day, date and month windows are framed and as (I think) there is no lume on the dial at all the chronograph rings are the most prominent feature that gives it an "undressy vibe", (I won't go so far to say sports watch look).

Function:
It chimes the hours, quarter and minutes. It is really interesting to watch the hammers of the chime in the 7 and 8 positions areas of the display back. In one of the pictures I attached I took a shot with the hammers in shade in an attempt to display them better. Perpetual Calendar layout is very legible as in the 5960's and the chronograph is single button that is simple, easy to use and very legible with the white hand.

Case:
The bezel for me really ties this watch into the modern Patek design theme. The chronograph pusher facing wearer is polished - on the 5370p its not. One aspect I found suprising is that the hollow lug design is not visually interesting but they are functional in design as the chime slide travels unto where a traditional lug base would be. And of course the sound is really something to hear. Interesting note; each watch is approved by Mr. Stern directly for sound quality.

And thanks to my amazing AD and the graciousness of Patek NY: I was able to take delivery at the Patek Philippe offices and experience an all day education course with a small group of people of the chiming and perpetual calendars with a tour of the repair and training facilities with a lunch at the 21 club which made the experience all the better. Just a fantastic day and delivery experience.

I chose pictures that I thought one would not normally see, and that highlighted the uniqueness of this piece. The stack picture is to show the size and case/lug design relationship between the 5088, 5370p and the 5208p.
