An ***actually unpolished*** 6536

Saw this at Sotheby's important watches yesterday thought I'd share as we hear the term unpolished thrown around so regularly its losing its meaning.

This is an unpolished case, admittedly not perfect but still... unpolished.

Beautiful piece. The wide chamfers down the lug are a great detail on vintage Subs and GMTs

I can confirm this watch is unpolished and in amazing condition. It's one of the nicest examples I've seen when considering the original and crisp condition of the case, dial and insert.

Did you get to handle the watch at Sotheby’s?

Thanks so much for the kind remarks. I’m humbled to own such a nice piece. Feel free to check out some pics I’ve put up on my IG @aircooltime for those that are interested. I’ll surely be sharing more to come there with the community

Results are public. It sold way too cheap.

An ***actually unpolished*** 6536

Some interesting prices I’ve seen on top examples over the past few years at auction that don’t always seem logical. It’s a beauty for sure and one I would put up against other top examples I’ve seen.

That is a gorgeous piece, congratulations! May I ask if you plan to wear it and if so, how frequently? The reason I ask is that I also am fortunate to have a lovely 6536/1 and am struggling with how comfortable I am wearing it. It’s never far from my mind that if one of those lume plots fall off, the value will fall. I know watches are for wearing, but.....Thanks for your thoughts.

This is just epic! And, if you wish, please share some pics here too for folks like me who prefer to steer away from social media in general (and FB & IG in particular).

Thanks for the kind words. I do plan to wear it and have sparingly thus far... I understand the concern, especially with pieces in fantastic original condition that have high value. That said, I think the main thing to avoid are vibrations and hard knocks that could damage the dial. I'm going to just be as careful when wearing it as reasonably possible.

Congrats on ownership of one of these beauties. What year may I ask is yours?
