Timex Marlin reissue

I read an article in Esquire magazine about a Timex Marlin reissue. It is a small dress watch evocative of the 1950s or 60s. Anyone have one yet? Have they been released?

Here Ya go. It's a true throwback watch. 34mm and hand wound movement, but since it's a Timex I'd wager it's a Chinese movement. Not that that makes it a bad one.

I like it.

However, I have a cheapo Timex-type watch I wear on nylon straps for dressy events and / or Church. My watch cost a whopping $6.95 at an Air Force exchange 15 years ago.

Sold out at Todd Snyder. Any other point of sale?

I've been hoping that Rolex would reintroduce that watch.

I read about them

the 34mm case size is a slight concern. I want to see one in real life to tell. :)

Just bought one on impulse from Todd Snyder site; returned it the same day it arrived.

Chinese movement as previously suggested and IMO looks better in photos then in real life.

Thought I would like it, and at $199 and free shipping there wasn't much to lose. When my sanity returned, I realized it didn't make sense for me to own a dress watch like this. It's not a watch you can just wear to the beach and knock around in, and in more formal situations I'd always be wanting to wear one of my "nicer" watches.

No offense to Timex intended, and for anyone on a limited budget or who can't fathom spending large sums of money on a watch (you're probably wiser than most of us!) it's certainly a watch worth considering. For the many who frequent this forum however, I'm not sure it has a place. Not in my collection at least.

TL/DR version: Life's too short to wear a cheap watch.

Got mine and immediately ditched the stock strap for a nice shiny croc one. Really enjoy wearing it so far.

I must have had a momentary lapse of cognition.

Ever since I saw a vintage one of these, I've been longing for Timex to reintroduce this watch.

There, I got it right.

Back around the early 2000's, Timex reintroduced the 50's era Marlin and it was very reasonably priced (under $100). They were available exclusively at Target and the inventory went quickly.

The only visual difference was that the re-issue didn't have 'waterproof' printed on the dial.

Droolex's Marlin is a 60s style (slimmer, sleeker and more sophisticated in appearance than the 50's model).
