Ceramic bezel Daytona on a big wrist.

It's hard to stay away from this fever. But with 8" wrist, to me it seems pretty small. So please: show your Daytona on a large wrist. Maybe I am wrong..

Watch and wrist size/ style is a personal preference. Perhaps the Sky Dweller or Deep Sea would be more fitting due to the larger case size?

How about the Deep Sky Presidential No Date with ceramic bezel

Note to self, don't post online before drinking your morning cappuccino.

The watch may look small to you because you are wearing it and gawping at it.

When you stroll down the street trying to impress the ladies with your new Daytona you find that not one person will notice it. It could be 36mm, 40mm or even 44mm, not a single person will notice it.

So relax and enjoy it, you have a great watch and 8" is not that big.

Regards

Mick

Having an 8 inch wrist myself I would suggest the D-Blue.

Daytona is small on a 6.5" wrist IMHO, so 8" is a non-starter.

Just depends how you like your watches to look.

Ceramic bezel Daytona on a big wrist.

Update: I'm just asking big-wristed Daytona owners to show pics

Sorry, no pics...I'm a smaller wristed guy. But, take a look at the YM2 for your sized wrists. Ceramic bezel, chronograph function and 44mm.

John, that's the exact opposite of what OP was looking for, but it's still a good excuse to look at your Pt Daytona!

I say a 42 mm speedy pro or 44mm dark side of the moon edition might look better.

Well I've just sold 44.25mm Speedmaster 9300 because it looked too big

I'm just in the process of transition from 44-45mm watches to more sane sizes.

IMO it depends greatly on the watch: thin bezel and white color looks bigger. This is for example my 40mm Omega Tresor

I think it looks moderate.

When I tried different Rolexes in local boutique, I had a feeling that Explorer Ii Polar is a bit big while Sub is smaller than I like. DSSD was too much, and I already have a diver.

The shop had no new Daytona, that's why I ask for pics here.

I thought the daytona wore way too small and I've only got a 7.1 inch wrist. Imho, the explorer II 42mm case is awesome for just about anyone from 6.5-8.5, and the deep sea will definitely work for the 7.5 and up crowd awesomely (a bit envious there!). However, I'll admit that I just bought a day date 40, and for some reason, that 40 doesnt bother me as much as the Daytona did...

Oh boy...

Well, photos of other guys wrists may not do you much good. The shape of your wrist has a lot to do with how the watch looks proportionally.

You'll just have to go to an AD and try on some Daytonas.

Here's my 4 month old 116500 on my 8" wrist. I also own the 42mm Speedy Pro Moon, and a 41.5mm Seamaster Master Coaxial, as well as a Sea Dweller SD4000 C, and I can attest that the Daytona does not wear small. The ceramic bezel allows the piece more of a wrist presence then the steel bezel version IMHO, and I owned several of those.

What's more, I used to be a huge Panerai guy. Owning over 30 various Panerai models between 44 and 47mm over about an 8 year span. I have no issues or regrets only wearing my much smaller Rolex's and Omega's. In fact, I'm not a fan of large watches at all anymore. Just kind of how I evolved with my watch wearing habit.

Again, in my opinion, the Daytona is about the perfect everyday watch, and I wear it to work most often as it fits so comfortably under my sleeves. Looks good in about all manor of casual or business situations. I change to my SD4000C for any rough stuff!

Cheers,

Joe

I have a broad 7.75 inch wrist. I don't have a photo but was able to try on the new Daytona and briefly owned the 116520. It's a beautiful watch and I hope to buy one but it did feel and look small on my wrist. Historically I have worn large watches so being sub- 40mm may take some adjusting. I look forward to owning one and finding out for myself.

Bottom line: it's not a deal breaker but I don't think the proportions work as well on my wrist as other people's.

With the exception of the two with ceramic bezels, all PM Daytona watches look feminine to me. I do not have a large wrist

I have 7.25" wrist and though I tried to like the platona very hard but every time I put it on had the impression that it is small for me. After couple of days I got used to it but first impression was always that. I ended up selling it due to this size issue. GMTII ceramic looks and feels perfect immediately and new EXP2 as well. In your position I wouldnt buy the daytona just because of the fever.

I think that looks great on you. To me, it is all about perception. Everyone states that the Daytona "wears small" so people start believing it whether it is true or not on any particular wrist.

Wrist thickness can be deceiving. Note the width of your wrist (top) and compare it to the lug to lug length.

Tom's son is a big guy with big wrists and the rocks a daytona, which looks great on him. I don't think you should have any problems, especially after seeing the picture of your 40mm Omega, which looks great on your wrist.

D-Blue is the way to go with a big wrist. Note everyone can wear a D-Blue. You're lucky enough to be able too.

I am sorry but you are really asking for something that is not possible. Taking a picture with a phone from 12 inches away is so optically distorted - it really does not represent what you see in reality at all. The phones lens are optically challenged at these distances. Go try it on in person. Seeing a picture taken from a phone is not close to reality.

Did a quick 5 min look at the picture above to show lens distortion. The line starts on the green circle you can see it does not match on the other side.

I'm in the same situation as you - I'm 6'5" and liked the idea of a Daytona, tried one on and realised it was too small for my liking. Subsequently I looked at the DSSD and Sky-Dweller but neither _really_ jumped out at me. I then realised I'd overlooked the Explorer II 42mm, and after trying it on decided that I really like it. I'm just looking out for one at the right priced from a GM dealer now.

Best of luck in your search!

Hey, I certainly don't disagree with you regarding the optical distortion due to the closeness of the iPhone camera, but here's another photo of a Zenith Daytona on the same wrist to put it into perspective. Remember, I simply stated that the Ceramic Bezeled Daytona wears a bit bigger (more wrist presence) then the SS or SS/18K versions. You can see that here!

And here's the SS non Zenith version:

And the new one, one more time:
