Maybe the YMII would work better for a big wrist? It's a similar movement.

And here's the SS non Zenith version:

And the new one, one more time:

To be honest, maybe because I look at so many photographic proofs, I see 3 different pictures from slightly different perspectives, the camera lens is going to distort and make anything closer to the camera look bigger than it really is. So taking a picture of your watch sitting on top of your wrist from 12 inches away will make the watch look much bigger than it actually is. This is just optical physics. Especially problematic for a phone, it gets better with a DSLR, depends on the size of the sensor compared to the object being photographed and the distance from the object.

I just went back to daytona after my sd4k and in between a 48 or 50mm piece. It feels small and loks small. to me. but I asked a few people without them knowing what I was asking and the verdict is that it looks normal.
so to you it will look small for a while but you will get used to it.
when I look at it in the mirror it looks more normal to me then when I look down. as far as size.

ive got an almost 8" wrist and to be honest it feels really small when i transition from one of my bigger watches... TBH after a couple of days it starts to feel more normal.
Its because of this i sold my first daytona as i felt i was wearing a womans watch.... it got the better of me and i bought another one and ive actually gotten used to it.
I think the ceramic bezel gives it a larger look and i may buy one eventually, i had the chance to buy one but opted with an AP ROO instead... im not buying into the hype on it and paying excess of retail to obtain the "unobtainable"... ill wait until the push is over and get one for what they are worth then.

Had sworn off of large watches, like you did

BTW returning to our old topic, I've tried the new Overseas 3 hands, oh boy it's hot. But the price is out of my comfort zone.

If I had 8" wrists, I would get an IWC big pilot...

The Daytona is tiny and hard to read IMHO.

The ceramic makes it look a little bigger but the dial is small.

IMO everything looks better on a larger wrist. It shows the watch nicer with more of the bracelet appearing upfront, kind of "frames" the case better on the wrist. If a wrist is too small the case is all you see up front and the bracelet kind of just pulls strait and doesn't curve with the wrist.

That gave me a whole to way to look at it and that makes a lot of sense.

Good advice...I tried really hard to like the Daytona as well, but on my 8" wrist, it is just too small for me. Which is weird, because I have zero problems with a 36mm DD or DJ. Go figure.

Daytona with strap on my 8" wrist.

Sometimes when I see the watch in a picture of me or in the mirror, I do think it looks small. When the watch sits in the center of my wrist the end of the lugs don't come close to the edge of my wrist. However, one day I was watching Thunderball on tv and noticed that Connery's submariner (also on a strap) wore the exact same way and it didn't look bad.

When I glance down at my wrist, I love seeing the Daytona there. It's a great watch. Go and try it on; it's the only way you'll know for sure if it will work for you.

I am sure that way back in the 1930s- 1940s there were guys with big wrists, watches then were around 30mm to 36mm in size.Myself have 8 and a half inch wrist yet quite happy to wear my smaller vintage as well as the normal 40mm plus watches, today just cannot understand this fixation with watch size.

Yes, but aviators in WWII preferred 50mm watches.

The problem not in the size per se but in specific model. As you see above, 40mm watch with a thin bezel looks fine. But Daytona has thick black bezel which decreases the field of vision.

I just got back from Wempe and 47th St. Tried on a ton of Daytonas in every iteration. My wrist is 6.5" but maybe wider than a 6.5" wrist normally may be - if there's any such thing as a normal wrist. They all looked small even compared to my Milguass which I was wearing and certainly smaller than my DJ2. I was quite underwhelmed and walked out without a watch. That was a first for me, when I was intent on purchasing one. Maybe I've been ruined by my Pams. :(

I have a 6,7" , tried the Daytona C and looked too small. I think I'm the 80's a Daytona in a 7" will look okay - but right looks too feminine.

I have the GMT BLNR and hunting the Deepsea Blue and Hulk.

My opinion- It's too small. I had a black dial for a short time and it was underwhelming. Pictures don't help me at all. In pics on the 9.5" wrist the steel Daytona looks good to me, however, when I wore the ceramic, it just got swallowed. My wrist is a shade under 8" but I contend that long arms and bigger hands make the watch sort of go away. Here's the only pic I could find of it and I think in the pic it looks more than ample enough.
