That came out really NICE!

What did he re-lume it with? Tritium?

I don't think that anyone is allowed to use tritium anymore unless it is in those glass tubes like on the Ball watches. He used Superluminova colored to look like tritium that had developed the patina over time.

I think a relumed dial is a good compromise... but as it is not the rarest dial in the world I'd have sell it and buy one in good conditions.

I see what you are saying, but I might look for a pristine example and just keep 2 of the 5513s. One for wearing to work, and the other one for more special events

Wow, that looks fantastic! For $150 bucks I'd be happy with just the look of it, but it actually functions brightly too!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments

I hope I didn't upset anyone with my thread title. I didn't mean anything by it, just a little playful fun. I actually sought the advice of one of the VERY respected vintage experts on this board before deciding on the relume. He advised against it, and said to sell it and just look for another example. I just couldn't hardly stand the idea of a 5513 not getting the love it deserves.

I should receive it back from Kent by this next week. I will give you my analysis once it is back in my hands.

I think that's good advice to seek out another pure example, but you're in a much better position to sell it now on account of the fabulous re-lume.

I am going to have to get it, wear it, and dive with it. Right now I am leaning towards keeping it as a back-up to my 14060m for diving. It pressure-tested to 200m.

I am a bit excited right now. I have 4 watches en route right now from various places.........some I have seen, some I haven't

Nice job. Can you choose how dark you want the "patina" on the re-lume to be?

The re-lume looks great. Who is Kent Parks? I've got a 14060 with dead lume. I really miss having a tool watch that can still do everything I bought it to do.

Congratulations! The watch simply looks spectacular and you will probably never tire of seeing the watch glow at night. I have a gorgeous 1675 with white dial markers that don't glow anymore. I'm considering finding a service dial/hand set and just keeping my originals, but now maybe I'll consider just getting them relumed!

Beautiful work!!

Enjoy your "new" watch!!

seeing the "before and "after" pics, your decision is spot on correct, very nice vintaged/patinaed look and functional at that. nice touch on the pearl re-lume, now it matches with everything lumed :)
