despite having a firm understanding of the craftmanship or novelty PP employs, that watch does absolutely nothing for me or the justification of the price tag. APs sick.

The AP Royal Oak Dual time is my Grail watch, but with the blue dial! Tried one on in Las Vegas last week. That with the VC Overseas Dual time with black dial. I could go either or.

That's the way it is kept in the safe by the AD's : a matter to reduce the space .
It is not a PP 5711/1 but PP5980 in that little plastic bag .

The YG Aquanaut is quite possibly the most beautiful watch I've ever seen (or one of the most anyways).

I know they all come to the dealer in similar packaging, just seems funny to me.

in the US they have to be removed from all packaging before they can be sold, so they don't come in the little plastic bubble wrapper

PP's craftsmanship--while excellent indeed--is no better than that of AP. Have owned watches from both brands and had the chance to play with far loftier references owned by others, I can say that without a doubt--and this applies whether we're speaking of the highest of the high end complications by both brands, or the "entry" level such as the 15300 Royal Oak or the Aquanaut. AP or PP? Definitely a case of "Primus inter pares" (first among equals). It's all about which design one prefers, and the Royal Oak and Nautilus/Aquanaut are obviously closely related designs with similar finishing intricacy and breathtaking perfection...or which brand history/marketing lore you identify with or idolize.

Given the equal craftsmanship, I think PP's current retail prices are massively bloated--particularly when you consider that PP's annual production is now around 45,000 pieces, while AP's still remains well under 30,000. But as is often said, there is no "sense" in the luxury market--simply what the market demands, and how much supply there is to quench that (even WITH PP's increased production over the last 10 years or so, there's no catching up to demand).

So for the high end, Patek dominates the price/prestige factor just as Rolex does in the middle range. Very nice photos, btw!

Well what a positive contribution to this thread...............I think not

If you can't say anything good............then perhaps it would be better if you say nothing at ALL

Regards

Tony
