Warning Be Careful

It’s good to see Mike Hui doing such good work. Sadly there is another side to this story that could interest you. Mike Hui sold me what he claimed to be a genuine Rolex in November 2018. When the watch was inspected by Rolex they confirmed that the serial number had been altered. Rolex would not even Service it for me because of this. I sent Mike Hui a copy of the letter I received from Rolex, confirming this fact, and photos of the altered serial number (obvious to the untrained eye even) and he refutes the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Where would you place your trust? Rolex or any a watch seller/repairer. Given his reaction I can only suggest that he may be putting his talent to more sinister ends or that he has no integrity and his expertise falls vastly short of expectations. Be careful.

That's concerning. Care to post a copy of the letter for the community as a reference? You can blur out any information you feel necessary (ie your name, address, location, etc...)

Pictures of the watch? Pictures of the letter from Rolex? You posted this same thing in another thread twice (accounting for all 3 of your posts on TRF) with no real info.

Also, before you say you can't post pictures because the forum won't let you, use imgur or tapatalk.

Rolliworks Review

Ok my turn. btw this really isn't Rolliworks related issue.

These are the photos sent to us in regards to the modified serial number. Perhaps others can chime in. The watch sold was an early release 16013 Datejust circa 1977. The engravings will resemble the engravings found on the 1601 as there were both produced at the same time.

The indentations across the engravings “Stainless Steel” are from rubbing of the end pieces, not an attempt to alter or disguise the identity of the watch as claimed. The client is claiming it's a clear sign a grinding tool was used disguise the true identity of the watch. This alone should be proof as he claims. Can others chime in on this please. Rub marks are very common on the mid cases of this era.

Two total letters we provided to us. One mentioning the customizations (refinished dial and conversion to sapphire crystal) all disclosed at time of sale. The other mentioning the alteration to the engravings. In reality Rolex Service Center will not service any watch with any customizations. Never ever. We offered to help repair the issue the client had with the dial but client declined.

Dispute the racial slurs, threats, and offensive obscene language used by the client we kept all communications professional and simply asked for photos of the watch. It took many requests to get them. Our offer is still good and still stands if/when client comes around to allowing us to help with his issues.

One letter pointing out the customizations that were listed and disclosed prior to sale. One letter saying the engravings are altered when the photos dont support it. We generally don't have any issues stepping up to resolve any issues but I'm having a really tough time getting behind this one.

Rolliworks just serviced my M Serial two-tone GMT. Looks great, runs within 0.5 sec/day, and they even sent back the parts they replaced. Cheaper than RSC (less than $500 all inclusive) and only a two-week turnaround time over the 4th of July holiday.

They rock!

Micheal repaired the bracelet on my platinum DD36 which I really screwed up when I slammed it down on my night table in a fit of rage. I bent like 3 links on each side of the bracelet. The work was beautifully done and the refinishing top notch. He even emailed me to ask if he could keep the watch a few day more because his #1 polisher was away and he wanted it to be absolutely perfect.

Serial number quality on the 16013 Looks consistent to what I’ve seen on Rolex’s of that era

Great job on the Sub, it literally looks almost new

The DJ - All the info that I have to hand (online searches, Rolex books) says that serial number would be from a 1980 production

1977 usually starts with a 5

Speaking solely and exclusively to the nature of serial numbers in 70's Rolex and Tudor, some absolutely authentic watches I have seen have had serial number engravings that look like an alcoholic going through withdrawals shakily etched each digit.

Hopefully serial-number-etcher is an entry level job at Rolex...

I have tried but the file size is too large. I will also post a photo of the serial number too once I find a way of reducing the file sizes. Bear with me. Do regular users have any suggestions so that I might post this evidence?
