Super Bowl, is it worth it?

I'm a long time Pats fan and have never been to a Super Bowl. I'm not getting any younger and am thinking of taking my son this year. Tickets start at $5k for a corner seat in the end zone. They may come down a little but you never know with SB tickets. I figure between tickets, hotel, airfare and spending money I'm looking at around $20k.

For those of you who have been, was it worth it? For those who haven't, do you think it's worth the money? If the seats were good the decision would be a lot easier for me.

Would certainly appreciate your thoughts.

Not for me. I had the opportunity to go twice and chose the big screen both times.

I went to Super Bowl 50 had free tickets. I really liked it but for 20k buy a gold watch and just watch it at home.

$20K is a lot of money (to me anyway). I think the big question is how would you feel about dropping $20k and seeing your team lose by 20-30 points? Not saying it will happen, just saying it could happen....and how would you feel then?

It's a life experience and if you can give that to your son and be ok financially why not.

I know, that would get me a nice new watch.

Absolutely, it would be a long flight back from Minnesota.

It all depends on how impactful dropping 20k is. I’m guessing it’s impactful enough since you had to ask. So then I wouldn’t, especially not for crummy seats. Personally, I’d take the 20k and take my son to Europe for a few weeks. Regardless it’s wonderful you want to do something special with your son!

Unless it was my home team and in my home town there is no way I’d go. It is a logistical nightmare really.

Super Bowl in Atlanta next year. I have a Falcons season tickets PSL. They are giving away free SB tickets to random PSL owners this year and then also doing a lottery to buy tickets. If I win free tickets I’ll go. If I win the opportunity to buy at face value I will resell. Unless Falcons make it next year. Then that may be a tough decision. I wouldn’t spend $20K though.

Seeing the confetti come down and Belichick getting hit with the Gatorade again would be priceless. Seeing them get beat by Philly would be awful. Tough decision to make.

It's a lot of $. I have season tickets and ticket holders in the club seats and luxury suites get SB tickets. They do a lottery for everyone else and I've never gotten them. Very few people in the regular seats get access to SB tickets.

I would pass. IMHO - Buy your Son a watch, take him on a Father/Son trip and present it to him.

I have no idea of your finances. To me $20,000 is a lot of dough, plus, I’m not a fan of going to events like this, concerts, etc. I would save the money and watch it on TV. Maybe go to Vegas and go gambling or something like that. Vegas is pretty cool for SB Sunday, but with the many sports book online options, you don’t need to go all the way to Vegas to participate. Tough call.

I would pass. My wife would say go.

She is all in to “experiences” I am not so much when it comes to big events like this with that many people.

If you don't go, Brady says he wants to play another 5 years, so you'll probably have another three or four chances.

I wouldn’t go unless the seats were either decent or free. 20 large to sit in the nosebleeds would not be worth it to me.

I like the backpack Europe advice! Catch the Super Bowl with friends and family around a huge tv. It’s the American way

That said, go birds 🦅 . I hate the patriots

$20k? Buy a watch each for you and your boy and wear them while you watch the SB from your sofa.

It's an experience for sure. The problem is most people think of what else you can do with that money. If you can afford it you will not have a shitty time there. Took my son to an all-star game for baseball and several NHL playoff games in the front row, was about the same amount as what you're looking at spending now and the energy in each place was an insane adrenaline rush that I don't think can be repeated any other way

My kid and I will never forget going to those so I really don't care what I spent on the tickets.

I'm a huge rugby fan... And whilst I understand the excitement of being at the stadium is something to be experienced, my eyesight is not good enough to enjoy a live match. I see more of the game if I watch it on a screen.

I would say no. Buy a great 4K TV for $3k and watch the game at home. Then use another $10K and take your son to where ever he wants to go on vacation. The last $7K buy him a Rolex.

I don't care how rich I was, I wouldn't spend 20k on a game. Having went to a few games in the US, it was always a 2-3 hour ordeal getting home after the game because of crowds. The SB will be much worse. I couldn't see anything even with 50yd line seats compared to the live TV broadcast.

Like others said, spend the 20k on something else like a vacation with your son. Far more enjoyable and memorable. Unless your son is a huge football fan, I doubt it would mean as much to him.

I went to one a long time ago. Washington vs Miami. Tickets were $75 each. That was worth it.

i could not justify todays' prices.
