It felt like it was either to keep it as a safe queen only with the correct bakelite mounted or using the watch with the aftermarket that bothered me. In the end I sold it and bought a 1675 instead..

Still super jelous of Autavians 6542. Killer watch. Took some guts to remove that bakelite from the bezel..

Pretty much the best 1675 in the world. Incredible condition.

Wow. That is mint. Incredible condition.

Box and papers exist, fella was to upset about his father in laws passing he couldn’t bring himself to look for them. When the time comes to begin cleaning out he will find them and bring them to me. I didn’t have the heart to press him over it.. so , no box and papers for this example.

Rolex GMT 1675 , plump plots and gilt dial. Circa 1960 , 1 million 4 serial

Very close to mine, really cool, bit I think its later then 61. Existing paperwork (guarantee, service records...) is really, really important I think. How long you have it?

I’ve owned this for about 3 years. It’s funny, the acrylic crystal was so bad I couldn’t see the dial very well and I told the guy the dial had a poor refinish job. He then mentioned his father in law never had the watch serviced. After slower look I noticed the dial was a cream puff original.

Love at second site :)

My favorite is the 1675 OCC because it is extremely rare and the bakelite on the 6542 makes me nervous to wear and that takes way the fun. Not a fan of aftermarket bezels personally.

This is my 1675 mk2 dial with a variant with a deco style Rolex font. I think it’s called the 2c dial. It’s unusual from what I understand. Beautiful watches in this discussion ! I think our colleague with 4 in New Zealand has exceptional taste!

In my opinion for GMT there are many interesting variants on the 1675. OCC dial, Double Swiss Underline, Chapter Ring Underline, even the rare mk0 matte dial.

6542 is definitely the grail but it is so much more if it comes with the original bakelite bezel

For myself I'm fortunate enough to be able to own a pretty nice one

Very short period

If you have an OCC with serial 503xxx - 504xxx you can be sure, that it is authentic.

No dial change etc....
