5711A or AP 15202 (blue dials) to pair with 5712A

I have a 5712A and love it so much that I am trying to add a 5711 (also blue dial). But lately, I am wondering whether the AP Royal Oak 15202ST would be better?

Would love to know what you think, and posting this on the Patek forum intentionally as I love Patek and want to make sure the input is from others who do as well. And to be clear, I do not want a 5711 in a white dial, even though that may seem like the obvious choice.

Some of my thoughts:

The 15202 is more of a different experience than my 5712A compared to what the difference the 5711A would be, and I love the two hand look (but I also like being able to see the movement in action by way of a second hand). Also, as much as I like AP, I prefer Pateks (all things being equal).

I am unlikely to sell either, so better resale value, while nice, isn’t a driving force. And obviously, I will be able to get the 15202 much sooner than the 5711, and it is a touch cheaper as well, when purchased new from an AD.

All votes and replies are appreciated!

both great watches, but with a 5712 already (which i prefer to the 11 anyway) the only real choice here is the 15202. That takes nothing away from the 5711, but two of the same case vs one each of the most iconic sports watch designs of all time, no way that is even close for me, especially so since you are taking resale off the table.

Fully agree. If it was the white, then I might be little more hesitant but with the blue, for sure 15202 makes much more sense.

In the UK at any rate, the 5711 is a touch cheaper than the 15202.... £19030 vs. £19200
But obviously resale is a different story

Aesthetically and considering resale isn't a factor I'd definitely go 15202. Its also gonna be with you some time in 2018. Which the 5711 wont. Instead, while you wait get on the list for a white 5711/ then you'll have all bases covered without being overly similar

I’d normally say the 5711, but if you could get the limited 15202 in titanium with platinum bezel I’d go for that.

Tough to say. I had a 15202 for almost exactly two years. I just recently flipped it. I’d probably pick up something else like an AP diver or a different PP. The Jumbo just didn’t do it for me.

I agree 1000%

With a 5712, I'd go 15202. Nice to have some variety and two iconic designs as opposed to two watches with the same case design and similar profile, and even though it's heresy, I think in the head-to-head, the 15202 beats the 5711/1A blue dial except on resale value. In the white dial, it's a closer call.

I chose 15202 but would seriously consider the new 15202IP. Also the 5726.

5712 + White Dial 5711 ftw.

AP is fantastic but it's not an option for me, most especially when we are talking PP Nautilus.

If your question were to complement the 5712 with a 5711 WHITE dial or with a 15202, it would be extremely difficult. I own these three watches and feel that they complement each other to the fullest in Genta awesomeness. The white/piano Nautilus adds some fresh air to the trio and is just a beautiful piece.

As you are contemplating, a blue dial 5711, already owning a 5712, I would jump straight to 15202. Make sure you also source a winding tool from AP, which helps tremendously to set the date and to wind the 15202 (with its tiny crown and no quick set date).

I prefer the 15202 over all of them. You already having the 5712 should make AP the easy choice.

All choices are in the land of awesomeness. My vote goes to 15202 for variation.

My choice

Bought all three
Sold the 15202
I know 15202 has a better movement... but nothing to do with 5711 dial beauty.

AP just churns out more versions of their watches, nice peices but looking at their SIHH offerings It’s just more of the same. A lot more. Just not special enough compared to a Nautilus imo.
