Rolex Zephyr 6582??
Anyone know anything about the Rolex Zephyr 6582?
Found one for sale locally and my wife saw photos and fell in love with it. What’s the deal with this watch? Can anyone tell me more about it and it’s current value? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Calibre 1030. I'd say the dial is real. Case has seen a little polish but not too much. Not a big deal, but not the bezel which is good because generally they are not very crisp.
What do they want? It's not an especially strong mover...those that like them love them...more people are not too blown away by them. It's probably worth a little more than a 6564 in steel and gold in similar shape...but not much. |

The extra arm hair is likely to add a few bucks ; )

That’s the link to the movement. 1030 was used in vintage non date subs as well. This 6582 is worth buying. |

That's about right, maybe a little high. It has that movement going for it, which is great. It has the 34mm size going against it, which is not so great for immediate price increases. Many of these, if you look at the original ads for the Zephyr, were sold on straps, as opposed to bracelets, so it looks great on a strap, was designed that way. I love my Zephyr, I have it on a two-tone Oyster bracelet. At $1500, I'd buy it, and I already have one, so we're talking about a $300 difference between "should buy" and "could buy". Hope that helps!

"Wants $1800USD."
That's a fair price. Any service history? The 1030 is notorious for "gummy reversers" in the automatic portion when not serviced at regular intervals and also if it sets up not being worn for a time. If they get too stiff (some resistance will be present because of the gearing normally) you risk breaking the crown gear when hand winding it, say when it has been left off the wrist and comes to a complete stop or wind down. Other than that, with proper maintenance, it can be a daily wearer, as waterproof as it ever was and a very good timekeeper. The dials are very often refinished and this one appears as i said, to be original. That's a BIG plus on a Zephyr. Bargain a little but if she likes it I wouldn't turn my nose up at that price in the market. As for 34mm....people will get over themselves and their 60 mm alarm clocks sooner or later. 34mm is a good wear on the wrist and even large on a woman. 34mm unless you are Lou Ferrigno, is a good size. |

Nice! My wife enjoys her 6582. I got it in non-running condition and RSC didn't have parts for the 1030, but ABC Watchwerks got it back to life for a little over $1,000. The bezel catches the light nicely.

A very under appreciated model. Yours is the first generation. Later versions with the 1560 movement went to a more machined version of the bezel. Toward the end of the model run, in 1968 I believe, they did a Date version that was tied to Rolex's sponsorship of Polo in the US. Though the 34mm case size is considered small by current fashion trends, it is definitely a man's watch...but in a good size for a woman as well. Your wife has great taste...get it for her.
