Aquanaut date wheel sticking

Looking for an opinion here. The date wheel on my 5167 Aquanaut sticks from time to time and doesn't roll over fully. Making a minor adjustment to the date will fix it and it works fine most days. I'm not sure if there's a pattern but I think I've noticed this happening around the 17-18-19th of the month.

Questions for the forum: 1. Is this a known issue with this movement? 2. I still have time on the warranty. Should I send it in? Only hesitating because Patek says it will be 5 months if work's needed.

One reason this can happen is changing the date around midnight while the gears are engaged. Always set the watch to 12 noon then change the date.

Try setting the watch to noon and advancing the date completely around and see if the disc aligns. Sometimes this works if nothing is stretched.

This was a common issue a few years ago, but very few incidents lately as PP seemed to have fixed the issue.

Thank you :)

so it sounds like I should try setting the watch at Noon to see if the issue still happens. If it does, then I should send it in as this might be an issue they know about and there is something to fix.

Good idea. It’s definitely a known issue. HWSA will fix it, but it will take a while.

I had one with the same issue and fixed under warranty taking about 3 months as I recall at that time. That was 2 years ago, hopefully quicker now.

An anomaly with the 324 movement, hasn't happened to mine...yet.

That would typically affect the whole date wheel, not just a few dates, as the OP has noticed.

It’s a known issue. I had mine fixed under warranty a couple years back.

Very good question. I heard it has something do with the oils and the way they apply it to the date wheel mechanism and/or the amount used. You’d think they would have it figured out by now.
