Incoming.. first Grand Seiko: SBGH269

I saw pictures and videos of the SBGH269 on the internet a few days ago and fell in love. Emailed a local AD and a couple days later he happened to get a shipment.

I am glad I bought this the day before Hodinkee posted about it. I guess the 900 pieces are going to sell out quickly.

I love the dial and the watch in general.

It is indeed very nice and I am super happy with it. I have to say I might be a prime example of Rolex losing customers. I have a couple nice watches (a Speedy and a Nomos) and wanted to buy another nice one for a couple of recent milestones. I was looking at various SS models: the Rolex Explorer II, GMT master and Daytona as well as AP Royal Oak and Patek Nautilus. None of those seemed to be available. The very nice guy at the closest Rolex AD just kept saying “keep stopping by”. After a few months I gave up and found the Grand Seiko.

To be honest I suspect I will still buy a Rolex at some point in the future so maybe there is no permanent harm done, but short term they must be losing customers.

Anyway, I am very happy with my purchase.

Looks fantastic! Any more pics? Also any thoughts of throwing it on a leather strap?

GORGEOUS!!

And I hear you about the frustration with sourcing a sports Rolex right now. Same boat - I want to grab something for meeting a milestone, but this time around it won't be a Rolex. I refuse to play the games that are currently going on. There's plenty of nice choices with other makes. That said one day the bubble WILL pop and then I'll pick one up. I do like coming to this site for lots of watch info though.

Guessing by your username I can guess your car - another good choice. Those are a BLAST to drive.

Enjoy the GS!!

Mr. BostonFiestaST, that is a great dial and beautiful watch.

I'm with you concerning Rolex. Buying a watch should be about enjoyment not playing the silly Rolex "waiting list" game.
