AP 26574ST & 15500ST Blue Dials Overkill? Pics!!!

I recently got lucky and had the opportunity to purchase a 26574ST(blue) in August as my first Audemars Piguet. While on the hunt for the 26574ST(blue) I mentioned to my salesman that if the 26574ST(blue) wasn't possible also keep an eye out for a 15500ST(blue). On my most recent visit to my AD he proposed that he can now get me the 15500ST(blue) as early as January 2020. Outside of the complications of the 26574ST would having two blue dials as my first AP'S be overkill?

Welcome to the forums.
Nothing wrong with having multiple blue dial watches. If anything, you'll just reinforce the relationship you have with the AD you're working with.

I would literally never wear the 15500.
It isn't overkill as such, but the watches are on different levels. Unless you beat the 15500 and beat it hard.

The 26574ST that you have is perfect. Well done. I'm waiting for a 15407, else I'd choose this one too.

For me its an offshore for play time and a RO for my 'grown up' days, but if you want two RO's then go for it.

Thanks for clarifying. The boutique has been looking after you well. You could inquire about a 15407 after acquiring the 15500. Something to consider should you want something other than a blue dial.

Just a thought.

15407 is an amazing piece of work but i do find them a bit difficult to read via pics (have yet to see one in person). Considering all of my collection are steel i was thinking of adding a precious metal into the fold, whether it be a 15202 or a piece from another brand

I have both blue and black dial 15400. PM me when the blue dial comes in, I would be happy to buy it from your AD if you don't want it. Our local, AD, Westside, has said they have enough folks on the waiting list to take all of their 2020 and 2021 allocations of either dial color.

Good call. I recently tried on a 26331or at Royal des Versailles and it was exquisite. The weight of the gold, combined with the beauty and craftsmanship of the bracelet was just remarkable. I, much like you, would prefer the 15202 in gold over the 26331, but I imagine the experience wouldn't be far off.

Would you go for yellow, rose, or white gold?

The 26331or is an amazing piece. i'd prefer if it had the sapphire case back but nice nonetheless. I'm surprised Royal De Versaillies even has one available. It's slim pickings in Toronto when it comes to AP authorized dealers. Have you had an opportunity to check out Louis Black?

Ideally the 15202 that i'd want would be the "salmon dial", but I'm not sure that its still available. If not that one i'd probably go rose gold.

The thought of having a yellow or rose gold watch seems very loud to me though. Thoughts???

Interesting approach, not in the sense that the 15500 should be destroyed (hehe) but if you wear the simple RO as a daily and save the QP for special occasions, they would make an interesting pair.

If both the watches are to be worn carefully and sparingly, I do think the RO would be redundant.

Both watches are very different. I have both but only the 15500 in blue and they aren’t anything alike.

It’s a safe bet owning both especially with 15500 trading on the secondary for well above retail.

Agreed. Not sure what the justification was for having a solid caseback on the 26331. I was at Royal des Versailles on Saturday, and they had one. Rose gold, bracelet, blue dial. Not sure if it's still there though. If it is, cough up $70K, and it's yours. As for visiting Louis Black, I stopped by about a month ago and the only noteworthy AP they had was a 26470PT. Had a look at the Richard Mille stock while I was there too, but much like AP, very slim pickings, just more so for RM.

I doubt any salmon dial 15202's are available, but you can't go wrong with rose gold. That's what I would opt for.

Perhaps, though I don't find it to be too ostentatious. AP's rose gold is very warm, while their yellow gold appears muted (compared to say, Rolex).

Not overkill but the 15500 will definitely be collecting dust...

I’ve tried on the same watch at RDV too made me ask them for an SS 26331. Have you successfully acquired an AP there? Do they give away any goodies?

Better go for the 15500ST grey dial instead to mix things up but haveing said that, nothing wrong with two blue dial APs. I also have two, 26331ST blue ROC and 15202ST. But in my case they have a different case as well.

I thought about that as well, but with the blue dial being a boutique exclusive and me living in Toronto it's hard to pass up. (We don't have any AP boutiques in Toronto)

So you are getting a blue 15500 from Louis Black? Didn't realise they were boutique status.

Good choice! Congrats! Next to the blue, the green khaki version is worthy to be in one’s collection!

Brilliant choice! Can’t imagine not hearing anything for 1.5 years from my SA but awesome that they delivered for you!

I’m going with my friend to collect his 15510 green later today too!
