16750 - advice

Hi all

I'm close to pulling the trigger on the below

https://www.chrono24.co.uk/rolex/gmt...id13119552.htm

https://www.maunderwatches.co.uk/sho...-gmt-master-2/

I know the pics are limited, but what do we think? I'm not bothered about price analysis but whether the watch looks to be in good condition (i.e not over polished, I can't really tell), not franken etc. The dealer is relatively large, based in Surrey in the UK.

What do we think? This is my first dip into the realms of vintage.

Looks very nice, finish on case is crisp, shows barely worn, quite unusual to find on an almost 40 year old watch. But at GBP 12,000 (USD 17000) it is definitely not a screaming deal.. Any negotiating room? I would feel comfortable spending up to USD 14,000 but more? Not sure. Keep us posted

Meh. Looks fine but no box papers complete set and way overpriced imho tho I’m unfamiliar with UK pricing. Not a rare watch. Keep up the hunt

Nothing wrong with buying a vintage Rolex without papers. Just make sure its legit and the price reflects the condition ....

Saw it today. Condition was amazing. Going to price chip a bit but I think I’ll jump on it

Looks really nice. I wouldn’t worry too much about box and papers either. An almost 40 year old watch the majority of them don’t and what good is a warranty paper at this point anyways. I’m not familiar with UK prices but understand them to be a bit on the higher end for watches like this. Maybe just a little off the asking price, but honestly for an example as nice as that I think they are pretty close.

Watch had to have been serviced, bezel looks to good to be original.
Who serviced? when? Did they use Rolex parts?

The asking price is reasonable based on the condition which appears to be very nice. This watch isn't a $14,000 GMT 16750, not even close.

Fine examples are bringing $16,000 on up. Box and paper sets for a fine watch are way past $20,000.
