GMT 2004 Pepsi-Does this look safe?

Hello, I have an acquaintance who owns a jewelry store. They let me know the have a 2004 GMT 12670 in excellent condition. I haven’t seen the watch in person, but they let me know they’d hold it for me. Thoughts?

“Retail” is 15k USD. I doubt I’ll pull the trigger, but would love feedback. If all is right I might offer 12 and pass if it can’t work. Thanks 305416C6-325E-4DDF-BB4B-9328D4AA9912.jpeg

It's a 16710, and back in 2004 "retail" was ~4k.

16710.

Looks decent - are box and papers included? Just asking as the price would be reflective of b&p's...

Bracelet needs some attention looks really stretched

I'm pretty sure there's no Rolex 12670. It should be a 16710 but the insert's color looks a little off. Could be the lightning.

Overall condition doesn't look that great. It's priced on the high side for sure, try and see if you can haggle a bit. For the price, I hope it comes with box and papers.

That doesn’t even sound like the acquaintance price.
That sounds like they think you have more money than brains price.

The point is, the current price of a new GMT, or the price from 20 years ago, are both irrelevant.

There is a market price for 2004 GMT's, and it can be found all over the Internet with a few minutes of research. Condition will determine if this watch should be at the high, or at the low end of that market level.

The most I would pay for this 16710 is 11/12K

It's overpriced for the condition. Worth closer to 12k than 15k IMO. It's been polished and looks like it needs another. Does it need a service? That will cost ~$1000.

Also, show your acquaintance this thread!
