15500OR or 26331ST
I recently put in an request for the 15500OR (leather strap), but after getting the new diver my SA told me that I am eligible to put in a request for the 26331ST panda dial. Which model will be a better choice?

I think it depends on how important you think thickness and in-house movements are.

Could I ask that you enlarge on that a bit please? Am I right in thinking the RO Chrono is/might be getting in house movement and open rear case back for 2022?? Thank you very much |

I would rather get 15500OR with full rose gold bracelet for now and the next one go for 26239ST with the new movement.

New chrono (26239) is noticably chunkier (see below). I have the Panda and think it is fantastic. AP willing, either the 15500OR or the new chrono in RG is going to be my next to next to next to next new watch, so I don't think there's a wrong choice. Some people will advise you however to go for the bracelet instead of the strap, as changing your mind later is costly.

Yes, as VogelPhoenix has precisely answered. Who knows on timing, and even more so who knows when it will be available for mortals to acquire.

I personally would recommend the 15500 over the 26331.

As you have a SS Diver I would go for the 500 but I would save some more and get it on bracelet, it really is AP's RO special sauce.

I've owned both and would say neither, if I had to pick, I would select the 26331. I find the dial is too empty on the 15500 which makes the bezel appear thinner and wears larger than it should. The dial on the 26331 is better but I didn't like the different sized (and colored) sub-dials nor the off center date. I ended up with the 26320 which I found the most aesthetically pleasing. All subjective of course but as someone else mentioned, I would DEFINITELY pick the one on the bracelet, it really makes the RO.

I guess look on chrono24 and see which one is fetching the biggest premium. Most will buy that one

Yes I also heard that there might be a new in-house movement for the ROC. Since next year is their 50years anniversary for their Royal Oak line. |

I am still unsure about the full gold bracelet as it cost so much more. I would rather use that extra money to get another AP watch, but at the same time I guess most people go for the RO line to get that iconic AP bracelet.

This has been confirmed by AP and the new ROC in precious metals (except the new yellow gold with green face) has them as in the pic above but the case is thicker as a result. AP also confirmed that it will trickle down to the SS ROC as soon as they can source enough of the new movement. I personally think the 26331 panda is the best of them all but that’s just my opinion.

I would get the 26331st. I have owned both the black chrono and the black 15500 and prefer the chrono much more as the dial is much more interesting although I do miss the transparent caseback sometimes. Also if it's your first RO you should defnitely get it on a bracelet!

My leather strap was a bit flimsy for the gold weight and started to tear so I would get a rubber strap for the RO too. |

Bracelet for your first Royal Oak as it was said - this is the primary reason that got me into the piece. And the Panda with its contrast is fantastic watch, I even would get that one over the blue dial (even when the blue commands a higher premium).

I love my Panda and strongly believe the RO should be on a bracelet. If you’re really wanting a strap maybe consider a ROO? I also find the 15500 dial very plain and lacking something. The off centered date I thought would drive me nuts but I actually really enjoy it now. The Panda also wears well in virtually any environment and is the last iteration before in house movements come around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
