I have both, to be honest I wear them both equally. Had Batman first but you can’t go wrong!! Completely different watches yet both wearable daily.

Define “better”

Which one you like “better” and why?

BLNR or 116610LVC-that’s the crucial question!

Would you be giving or receiving 1,000 from that trade?

If you’re giving money (the original BLNR plus 1,000 Pounds for a LVc) then it is a straight NO!

Let me explain - the BLNR vs LVc argument has been there for at least three years now (because before then the LVc was not as liked as it is now), and it was usually a wash. There’s a thread where there was an actual poll that many people voted on, and although the BLNR came ahead there I have personally considered both references a wash.

They are both amazing timepieces, and I personally love the LVc (that dial is mesmerizing).

However, the original BLNR (on Oyster) is the first dual-color Ceramic bezel for Rolex, is the first Blue-Black iteration, and has an extra complication than the LVc has (while maintaining the same real-world depth rating ...yes, I know the GMT II can ‘only’ go 100m while the Submariner can do 3x that, but if you know anything about diving you’ll realize 100m is good for 99.9% of divers outside a select elite).

Anyway, that BLNR is now also discontinued, replaced with the 12xx reference BLNR on Jubilee (that is basically the 12xx BLRO in every single way apart from a Blue-Black rather than Bluish-Reddish bezel, and a blue GMT hand).

The LVc is a green bezel/dial version of one of Rolex’s most iconic watches, the Submariner with date. A very nice reference that is somewhat the successor of the earlier LV anniversary edition.

A good watch, but there is no way I would do a one-to-one trade AND THEN EXPECT TO PAY ON TOP OF THAT.

The person you want to trade with is the one that should be paying YOU. It is honestly ludicrous what that person is trying to do, and if he/she is a friend then he/she is not a very good friend.

You might as well go to Watchfinder - they would give you a better deal (a 1:1 exchange, and even then they’d be taking advantage of you - but not as much as your ‘friend’ is trying to do).

Sorry for the long post - but I don’t like bad deals. One could look away from a 1:1 deal, but a trade where you give a BLNR Oyster to get a LVc, AND THEN PAY 1,000 Pounds on top, is a scam.

A scam.

Not to mention your BLNR is newer than the LVc, which really doesn’t matter (since they could have been made the same time but sold at different times) but still bothers me considering how bad that deal already is.

Have both, love both - but the BLNR for me. It is a matter of preference and there is no right answer

Hulk is next for me. Just cannot get comfortable with the Batman/Pepsi kind of GMT. Feels too busy, overrated. but that’s just me

BLNR Nairobi I am extremely grateful to you for taking the time and trouble to help me analyse my situation. You are spot on with your case for the BLNR so much so that I have decided not to proceed with doing the deal!

THANK YOU!!!

You’re welcome. I hope the person who wanted to do that ‘trade’ is not a friend.

A one-to-one exchange MAY be workable (although trading a discontinued first-variant GMT may not necessarily be wise ...) if you really (really) desired the LVc. I don’t think it is a straight trade, but a number of people could do it.

But to trade a BLNR Oyster for a LVc, and then pay 1,000 Pounds Sterling on top of that, would be a really bad deal.

Even the most rabid LVc fan would agree that’s a poor trade. Like trading a Mercedes E-class AMG for a BMW M5, and then having to include a free Audi hatchback to the BMW trader!

When I first read the question, I was all aboard with BLNR for one and only and adding a Hulk to a collection, but you Hulksters really have me thinking about going green ;)

Hulk gets stronger the angrier he is, he also weighs like 600kg and is a beast.
Batman is a rich guy with some pretty cool gadgets and great hand to hand/melee skills.
They’re both cool but hulk wins

in my opinion Hulk, way more masculine and useful. Prefer the oyster bracelet in the: Batman instead of jubilee. Jubilee looks nice on date dates or datejust.

Hulk for me. The BLNR feels a bit off because it’s slightly smaller than the sub.

I have an unbiased view because I am lucky to own both. I never thought anything can beat my BLNR. I love blue. I love the look. But, everything changed when I got the hulk. Green is not my color at all. But there is something about this watch that makes you feel things that in my opinion no other watch can. You have to own one to know what I mean.. So I vote HULK

Batman v Hulk

Both watches are cool.
What makes the Hulk so unique is is the way dial changes color.

I agree with advice of:

Single watch = BLNR

Part of large diverse collection = Hulk

My personal favorite (just got mine 7/17/19 is...
