Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your first. If you don’t know it’s history, I’d be inclined to service. Hopefully you built that cost into the price

Huge congrats! Welcome to the club. You’re going to love it. Well done with a 5-digit too!

Congrats and welcome! A 16570 was my first Rolex. Great reference!
Use a timing app on your phone and check the timing, if you are curious today. Then, I’d have it checked by a local watchmaker. They can check the gaskets and see if it needs “oil”. No point in servicing it if it recently had one. Looking to see how much oil remains in the jewels and checking timing will let you know if it needs service. They can pressure test it. That’s easy. That’s what I’d do. But if you are not comfortable with that, a service is about $750 from Rolex. Had a Sub done by Rolex Service Center in Dallas last year. Enjoy!

As long as it's running well leave it alone.
I also have a 16570 and it's a fantastic watch. I've been wearing mine for 9 years non stop. It's a very tough and versatile watch.

First of all, congrats.
Second of all, whether you overpaid for it is only relevant if you plan on reselling for a profit. I doubt that'll be the case, though, as it's becoming increasingly difficult to nab an all-original Rolex.

Great watch, great choice. Wear it and see if it is keeping decent time, then consider service.
