Vintage Grand Seiko Hi-Beat 6146-8000 (1969)
One of the more sought-after vintage Grand Seiko automatics, the 6146-8000 is also one of the more faithful examples of designer Taro Tanaka’s famous Grammar of Design. Condition The Hi-Beat movement is running very well at 36,000bph, and keeping great time. See timegrapher pic below, taken a few hours after a full wind. The case and crystal are in excellent condition, as are the hands and dial – with sharp printing and bright SEIKO and GS applied logos. The original GS-signed crown operates perfectly for winding, time setting, and for adjusting the quick-set date. Facts & Figures Production date: March 1969. Case: 37mm x 12mm. Lug width: 18mm. Lug to Lug: 42mm. Movt: Grand Seiko 6146A Hi-Beat movement with quick-set date. Click here for more details. BPH: 36,000. Crystal: Acrylic. Waterproof: No. Strap: Brand-new black leather from WatchGecko. Price: US$1,680 plus DHL (around $60, and usually takes less than 48hrs to USA and Europe.
