Vintage diving helmet from 1970's Rolex 'At One With The Sea' window display.

Picked this up this week on the well know auction site. Have been looking to get one for the display for a couple of year and then an actual Rolex POS display piece pops up so I figured it would be rude not to buy. I really quite like it.

From an internet search this is what the original full display would have looked like.

I see these on eBay all the time and have always considered them appealing and interesting. Is it branded anywhere, or just generic?

Yeah, I have been watching them closely on eBay and some of the copy's of them are quite crude with the details. It doesn't have Rolex branding on anywhere but I am not certain they should have? Maybe someone can chime in.

Many versions of these divers helmets appear on auction sites, while the Rolex helmets weren't branded the authentic Rolex versions are very distinctive.

That’s cool

Am I the only one who would never put their head into that thing? I’d feel claustrophobic immediately

I don't think my head would fit in that one.

I'm sure I have that display and a couple of others from my Grandfathers jewellery shop knocking about in the attic somewhere.

Normally they either have a 4mm hole at the front, or the logo on it.

I should ask that POS does mean Point Of Sale, right?

very cool but it would be more fitting if it was a vintage piece inside of it.

Yes, you are correct.

I've added some warm LEDs to mine:

Has anyone found information on these to help authenticate these? I've seen few articles online myself.

Same helmet, probably same factory but no front hole to plug it on a rolex display. Pretty sure that this one has never see a Rolex store.

Anyway his pretty cool and the exact same model that the one used by Rolex.

For the second one with the front Rolex logo. Same thing in my opinion. Same model same factory but no display hole and a "fake" Rolex has been add.

Most of the time, there are 50 fakes for every real one. These things are littered all over the bay for a couple hundred bucks
