New caliber queries..

2019 sent my RO for services, the service center recommended a caliber upgrade.. all went very well.

The watch went straight back to the safe till I took it out this afternoon. I gave the watch a quick wind up (I can hear the winding clicking sound) n it was running beautifully. Then I pull out the crown to adjust the date.. to my surprise, the second hand stopped. I thought I over pull the crown to position 2 .. then I try again.. I confirm the second hand hack in both position 1 (date adjustment) and position 2 (time adjustment)..

Is this normal?

I check my services itinerary it did not indicate the new movement model.

Usually such caliber “upgrade” they change an all new caliber or they just replace a new but same mechanic/movement?

Thanks for chiming in!

When they said "upgrade", probably meant the same movement with some enhancements and not an entirely new movement.

The new caliber 4302 self winding movement hacks only when adjusting the time (second position) and not the date (first position)

If you RO is older than 2019, it's not the caliber 4302 as that movement is too big to fit in older ROs.

Mine is 14790 model.. this is the first time I encounter hacking second at position one. Could this be a mechanical problem/failure?

Weird my 15500 doesn't... only hacks for time.
In that case my initial comment on the caliber 4302 may be incorrect.

I stand corrected, checked it again and it only stops for time, continues to run for date change…

Model 14790 has caliber 2225
It doesn't seem like you can hack when setting the date but this movement is old and this might be the upgrade.
Please double check with your boutique.

Ya previously the original movement that came with the watch only hack in position 2 .. this is a completely new movement ie better accuracy, more robust and better power reserve according to the service centre.. however they didn’t mention which caliber they replace it with..

I will try to contact the boutique.. the local services centre here in Singapore has been closed down permanently quite recently.
