Unless it was damaged, could it be the issue of radiactivity of early GMTs that Rolex silently replaced the dial? My dad can't recall it was replaced. Does Rolex Switzerland share service record history of a particular watch?

Yes it's highly likely that it was changed because of the radiation factor. A pretty hot subject around 1962!
