Let me preface my response by saying that I am an unabashed Omega fan. Omega has produced fine timepieces since 1848 and at the moment, represents much more value for the money than Rolex.

But I chose the PO LM over the Sub primarily because Omega got it right with the ceramic bezel. The numbers/markers of the Sub-C/GMT IIc bezel are recessed and applied using a PVD-type process. This design makes the marker/numbers susceptible to chipping and scratches.

On the other hand, the markers/numbers of the LM are flush with the ceramic and bonded, not applied. The Liquidmetal is also 3X harder than SS with the result being that the LM bezel is virtually impervious to chips and scratches.

There are other factors that influenced my decision such as co-axial movement, styling, outstanding bracelet, and overall quality. The ceramic dial is also a work of art. Being a LE is a plus as well.

The platinum marker/numbers on Sub C are susceptible to chipping or scratches?
Where did that come from?We pay all tht amount of money for a better Rolex and Omega comes with a watch and lower price better???

I got a Hirsch curved end strap (principal Leonardo) for my Omega LM and I like the way it looks. It´s not as nice as the bracelet but I thought I could try it for a while just for fun.

What do you guys think?

Over on the Rolex forum, there are those that poo-poo the LM and say it's not worth the price premium over regular POs. Some even go so far as to say they prefer the regular PO (matte dial)....

I've only seen pix of the LM, and to me, it looks fantastic.....

Wondering what y'all think, if anything, of the criticisms.

Hate to say it but I'm one of those !

Not to rubbish the LM what so ever it is a fantasic watch but I have to say I would go with the standard PO !

If they both were the same price then yes LM all the way but I don't think the LM pushes past the standard PO, I would of liked a little difference if you get what I mean...

I think the PO fits in the market so well they needed to up the ante a little more on the LM.

I saw that thread. I own both Rolex and Omega so I speak from both sides. There will always be more people choosing the Sub-C over the PO LM as every man and their dog has a Sub-C. PO LM owners belong in a rare and exclusive club. There are only 1947 (I have 2 PO LM) of us. Just look at the For Sale section, there are so many Sub-Cs for sale but not one PO LM.

As for the PO vs PO LM comparison, the PO is a great watch but the PO LM is on another level. Hold the watch next to each other and the PO LM's dial, bezel, applied markers and logo is a huge improvement over the PO.

As for the Sub-C vs PO LM. No contest. It's PO LM all the way. Exclusivity and rarity goes to the PO LM. Looks goes to the PO LM as the Sub-C looks dated. Both watches keep good time and can last a lifetime. Generally, a Rolex will hold their value better than an Omega but in the case of PO LM and the Sub-C, the PO LM due to it's exclusivity will hold their value better than the mass-produced Sub-C.

Even if the LM PO is at the same price as the Sub-C, I will buy the Omega hands down. Don't get me wrong, I like Rolexes especially my DJ2 and the Blue WG Sub.
