Please your opinion on Omega Globemaster

Hi all,
I'm in the market for a mid size (39 mm maximum) Omega watch with white dial, both for dress and sporty look, and my thoughts are on the Omega Globemaster with stainless steel bracelet.

I add a pic from the net.

Which is your opinion abot this watch ? One more question: is the crown a screw crown or not ?

Thanks in advance for your reply,

Engi

Hi, I haven't seen the bracelet in person but the watch is a good choice, highly technical, robust and accurate! You really can't go wrong!

I tried one on at the Boutique in Denver and loved it. Alas, I chose another over the Globemaster for my next watch, but it is nice looking. I wouldn't pay full price though.

Well, let's put it this way - while it's maybe not the most original watch in the design department (I'm thinking of that fluted bezel that KINDA reminds of our most beloved brand), it's nevertheless really great timepiece, with enough distinctive features that makes it standing on its own even when compared to...khm...Datejust..

Kidding aside, Globemaster collection is one of the gems of the Omega line, with astonishing build quality and beautifully decorated co-axial movements.
So, what's not to like?

It looks better on leather strap.

On the strap it's more elegant, but I should wear it also for sporty occasions, so steel bracelet is needed

It is a very nice dress watch IMO....had the pleasure of trying on the platinum one.....spectacular piece. But it's a bit too dressy for my lifestyle (usually) so it's not a good fit. The pie pan dial is definitely acquired taste.

A white dial is my requirement for dress and tried several brands including this one:

Found the DJ to be too vanilla and my trusty "Speamaster" got more wrist time:

But I still wanted more. The introduction of the Globemaster looked like a possibility. I had been very impressed by my 300m Master Co-Axial so Globemaster seemed like a good match.

After much research, I decided to pull the trigger on a TT model on a strap. I ordered it sight unseen knowing that I could not return it.

When it arrived three months later, I was delighted:

I've had mine for almost a year now and the accuracy is phenomenal.

I have a stainless Globemaster with a blue dial - it's a great watch. It does *not* have a screw-in crown. It's super easy to adjust the hour hand when traveling. I'm an 800 lb gorilla so I did have to order another link for it. Initially I wasn't too crazy about it as it was just a tad bit too tight - the extra link made all the difference in the world. It's a very nice, understated dressy watch - even in stainless. I thought long and hard whether I wanted the leather band, yet I don't have experience with Omega leather bands and was concerned how it would wear over time. All in all, very pleased with it. The pie pan dial is a real classic look and it adds a certain vintage look while being a modern watch. That gold version is awesome.

It doesn't wind quiet as easily as other Omegas or other watch brands, I feel a tad bit more resistance when winding it. Bought new from an AD, so no concerns about it being a fake, but I'm probably just nitpicking here. I'd definitely say put it on your wrist and see how you like it. I liked it the moment I saw it, got it, then wasn't crazy about it for a few weeks. It was definitely a sizing issue for me, now that it's sized, I really like it a lot. Of my Omegas, though, my most often worn is the larger PO. Then the Tintin, then this one. But this one is more dressy/formal than the others.

I've got one and I love it.

I just put it on brown leather, but I really like the bracelet as well.

It's an incredibly handsome piece that is understated. It wears great and is clearly of exceptional quality.

I love mine.

I think it is a great looking watch and I like it on both the bracelet and leather. I have handled both at a local AD but will say that the price and the resale value concern me. Look on-line and see where they are selling. It could be an addition to a collection if you can get it at the right price.

I think they are stellar watches, just gorgeous. And the Master Chronometer accuracy is pretty amazing.

As far as the whole fluted bezel/Datejust thing...that was my first thought when I saw the first pictures. But in person the fluting is finer and it really erases any connotations for me.
