It's amusing that it is going in a loop at this stage

I concur.
It's something I've considered this from time to time myself.

It also depends upon your locality.
I have a simple Omega Railmaster co-axial on a strap that I will likely have until the day I die. It's really that good.
It has a reliable movement that's based upon an ETA with an early version of the Co-axial escapement.
With reference to one's locality, the main issue I have and for the foreseeable future will be servicing.
The Co-axial is a little problematic in that here in OZ the only reliable avenue for servicing is through Omega which anywhere else in the developed world probably wouldn't be a problem, but here in OZ it's a real hit and miss affair as I've seen watches come back from servicing in worse condition than they went in.
In the past have bought Omega watches from collectors who will only ever have services performed at the Restoration division in Biene. I think it's an option I will seriously explore in the near future for this piece.
I am also not particularly fond of the omega Bracelets and much prefer the Rolex offerings.

This brings into focus the real standout benefit of Rolex watches and Rolex as an organisation far as I'm concerned.
It's the high standard of their world wide service network that sets them apart along with their universal standards they set in terms of outcomes.

Sorry, I can only relate to the less than satisfactory experience that is still going on with RSC, NYC.
