question about Rolex DSSD 44mm
I would like to know what the distance is in cm of the dial. I mean the size without the dive ring. Is the ring lock system part of the dial or does it make the dial smaller?
Does a DSSD wears small or big on the wrist? I love the fact that the DSSD is 44mm (I would prefer 46mm) but it seems on photo's that the dial is small. My wrist is 8" and maybe a little bit more so I want a big watch. My IW5004 Big Pilot and Pam312 are perfect for my wrist. I am looking for a new (dive) watch and the DSSD is on top of my shortlist. The DSSD "James Cameron edition" is out of reach ;-( I also like the Pam233 (second place) and the Pam305, Omega Seamaster PO chrono (third place) at the moment. The Blancpain fifty Fathoms and the JLC Master Compressor Diving Alarm Navy Limited are dream watches for me also but that is the future I hope. The DSSD "James C edition" is out of reach ;-( |

The dial itself is not what gives it it's size. I think it's similar to that of the Sub but everything else is beefed up around it.
The thickness is what some people have an issue with (17.5mm I believe). Sounds like it would fit right in with your BP and 312. To add, the dial is definitely smaller than your current two and the others you are considering. |

It appears to me that the DSSD dial is the same size as those on the GMTc and Subc
And the Ring Lock ring is outside the dial The minute, hour, and second hands of the DSSD and GMTc appear to be identical Same for the DSSD vs Subc except that the Subc hour hand is different The DSSD bezel is actually less than 44mm, and the DSSD was originally stated to be 43mm, but Rolex changed that at some point early on |

Isn't the James Cameron edition only a few hundred bucks more? 400 here in Canada so USA might be less.
As for wearability, it wears like a 44mm watch. If you look straight down at it its not that bad, my 7 inch wrists can pull it off. But it's the thickness that gets me. I can't do it cause it's too chunky as a whole. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From a recent thread here about dial sizes, I believe the DS dial is exactly the same as the sub/GMT. I am attaching a pic from our expert Alpino.
