3085 vs 3185

I have searched to find the answer to this question. What is the difference between the 3085 movement that came in early GMT II's (16760-Fat Lady) and the 3185 movement that came in the newer GMT II's (16710)

I apologize if this has been answered previously, but I have spent time looking through various sites and can't lay my hands on the answer. Both function identically, so I am assuming it may have something to do with jewel count or maybe something else.

Thanks in advance

Thank You, although I was asking about the 3085 vs 3185. The link you attached shows diff between 3035 and 3135.

.

both don't function identically. Crown in position 2 (hour hand alone), when you turn it clockwise, hour hand turns counter clockwise for the 3085 , and turns clockwise for the 3185. For a complete crown rotation, hour hand jump 3 hours with the 3085 and 6 hours with the 3185.

If that's not so important, it denotes 2 different movements. 3085 is based on 3035 (from 1977) where 3185 is based on 3135 (from 1988). Those 2 base movements are totally différents (31xx are still actual movements for most of Rolex today's collections, and have just begun to be replaced by the new generation 32xx 2 years ago).

3035/3085 : 27 jewels
3135/3185 : 31 jewels

Balance bridge for spiral is the most visible difference between two.

You should find easily infos by searching on base movements 3035 vs 3135 , instead of 3085 vs 3185.
