500 and 520 are exactly the same except for the bezel; same bracelet, same size, same dial except that the chronological dials have a different color.

The color of the 3 sub rings are different too between 500 and 520.

Sorry typo mistake from me. I meant chrono dials (as in 3 sub-dials); not chronological dials (auto correct )

Lovely watch. Do you wear it daily or for occasional use? I have the same and it comes out occasionally at the moment.

Btw, where did u see a SS Daytona selling for £12k, and was that a 116520? Was it used, didn't think they'd fetch that much.

I had a chance to look at a 500C black dial. It was very nice, but for me I don't see a need to "upgrade" to the ceramic model. Both watches are awesome!

You could 'upgrade' and be in profit!

That doesn't happen very often

The difference between someone's "asking price" and what you could get for your watch in the real world can be pretty significant.

The only difference in the newest version over its predecessor is the ceramic bezel. Everything else is identical. A big change occurred around 2000 when Rolex unveiled their in-house movement which is still used. The bracelets were upgraded across the entire line a few years back to more solid links and different folding clasps.

Forgetting to add that the sub-dial markers on the new versions, black and white dial, are much more legible. This is particularity so with the white dial.

Not quite true. The Sub dial rings are different and the font under ROLEX is narrower on the 500 than the 520.

I wear it quite often, several days a week in fact. I don't believe in keeping my watches in storage. Regarding the £12k Daytona, do a search on watchfinder.co.uk, there are a couple of 2015 used models with an asking price of £12,750.
