I rotate mine and have worn a Rolex to work for the past 25 years. Rolex are not common in our manufacturing plants even amongst the managers but often seen at the corporate headquarters in the US or Europe.
Aside from a co-worker who is also a WIS, if anyone ever noticed or recognized I was wearing a Rolex they didn't mention it.

I wore my Coke GMT to a business meeting yesterday - I'd driven 200 kms to meet five people I have been doing business with for the last five years. As I left one of them made a joke about me charging too much money for my services as I was backing my 2007 Cadillac CTS-V out ( which I bought used ) but not one of them noticed the watch, which was on display the entire meeting as I was in a short sleeve shirt. There is something ironic about that. But it does confirm that these watches are under the radar for most people.
That's just fine with me.

Why is that ironic? I'm guessing the 2007 Cadillac cost a whole lot more new than the 2007 (or older) GMT did. They wouldn't know whether you purchased car or watch new or used.

I will agree with some other posts here that unless your watch is gold and covered in diamonds, most people won't notice. Wear and enjoy your watch. Non watch lovers won't notice and those who know will be watch enthusiasts.

If you study the information on line and photographs you will notice Rolexes are not adorned but are rugged work horses meant to be worn and take the hits. If you choose not to wear that is your lose.

If the higher-ups don't like being outshined in the watch department they should up their own watch game. My GMT2 Pepsi will show them how. :)

One of our senior partners wore a Swatch one of his kids bought him. We had an interview with a potential client company and he came to me to borrow my watch for the interview. At the time I wore an Omega Seamaster. Turned out the CFO of this company was on the interview team and was an avid diver. He noticed and complimented the Omega.

No. More concerned with severely dinging it up rather than someone noticing it.

I do and no one has noticed. To be fair, I've seen 3 other rolexes where I work but I haven't said anything to their wearers. As much as I appreciate their taste in watches, I prefer to let them be about it.

I think it's not so much about what you wear as how you wear it. As long as you're not waving it in everyone's face and saying "lookatme" it's not a big deal. My GMT2 is a tool watch and not real fancy. Stainless Steel doesn't scream out to be noticed so that's where my views come from. It's just not a big deal. No different than a nice suit or fine shoes.

Same... There's a guy in my office who wears an early 90's GMT Master II TT with a champagne dial, at first I was going to chat with him about it, but then decided best to leave alone.

That being said, if someone struck up conversation with me about my watches, in an 'interested' way rather than the standard 'they're obviously paying you too much' banter, I wouldn't be offended.

No one ever notice my 114060 but literally everyone notice my colleague's 116610 because of the Cyclops. :-)

Ive wore my SubLV and my GMT allover the world with my work.
I wore the GMT in Iraq and West Africa and I'm wearing my LV here in Siberia right now.
I work for oil companies so its quite common to see lots of nice watches with guys working overseas for long periods of time , they tend to like to treat themselves when they get chance.
My current boss has the same Sub as me and we've never mentioned it to each other , my other boss started a conversation about my Sub the other week and he was wearing a Montblanc

I believe in the opposite of that. Dress for the position you want, not have.

I wear mine to work every day.

This. Unless you are a hotshot salesman, your boss is likely making more money than you. If he/she chooses to spend their money on other things (or saving it), that is their decision, so who cares. If you are the hotshot salesman who is making more money that the boss, then you are making him/her a lot of money so they are probably happy about it.

I am the boss of several hotshot salesmen and I am strongly encouraging the top billers to step up and get a watch worthy of the top biller. He hasn't yet, but he will, and when he does, I won't be offended, I'll be happy for him. Then I will buy a watch superior to his, haha.
